X-Box V1.2 - Standard
Xecuter 2.6 CE

I have installed the mod chip and was able to boot the BIOS scrren - no problems - I then FTP to my Laptop and flashed the bios.
EVOX 2.2 1MB file - Problem here I think!!
The flash completed and the xbox turned off.
When I now turn the xbox back on it flashes the eject red/green
If I disable the mod chip it will boot from the original ms dashboard ok.

Have I missed something or have I killed the MOD chip - if I got hold of a programmer could I recover it!!

Any comments would be helpful!

Yes, I'm having the identical problem (Click here to link to thread). I hope someone who knows what's going on replies to this thread. I posted in the xbox-scene forums and I got some links to tutorials that do me no good. You can't FTP in, can you? All the tutorials I've found vary, and they all have a hacked bios already installed. The xecuter tutorial simply has you HTTP in and put a .bin file in. I did that and now I'm in your boat. It's not a nice boat, hardly a raft. The damned thing has all these holes, I'm telling you. Duct tape won't suffice.

My recommendation to you both is:
1. See if you can get to FlashBIOS using the other bank (Bank 2 may be). If you cant then .....
2. Got hold of a copy of X2-5035 BIOS. Make sure that you'll use the correct version of 5035 for your xbox (the Plus version I think is for 1.6 and later. Can't remeber exactly. Just make sure you'll read the documentation on the official web site first)
3. For "lostitall", a programmer will do you good for restoring your chip. Read tutorials on this forum showing you how to use a Programmer. Of course, you'll have to download and install FlashBIOS Manager from the official web site. You can simply flash your chip with 5035 on bank 1 and FlasBIOS on bank 2.
4. For "Emperor", you'll either have to get a Programmer or do a hot swap with your friends to be able to restore the original factory BIOS. Once original BIOS is restored, you can use either FTP, HTTP or DVD disc to flash your chip with 5035

Have ordered a programmer - cheaper than a new mod chip - both banks dead - flashed the chip with a 1MB file so overwriting both banks. Should be here by about Friday - will post a reply when it works - ever hopeful.

Yeah, I can still access FlashBios on bank 2, but when I select "Enable network flashing" and use the IP address it shows in flashfxp, I can't make a connection. Is there some sort of password info I need?

Oho-kay now this is really starting to piss me off. I booted up flashbios from bank 2, flipped over to bank 1, turned off protection, and reflashed the broken bank 1 with x2bios to...another, non-booting bank 1. What am I supposed to do? I can't FTP in to install any dashboard that the program looks for according to the ini file. Is that the problem? That the bios is fine but I get the FRAG because it doesn't have a reference GUI to show me what's going on?

What am I supposed to do? Is there a way to get a disc to boot with a dashboard file on it to fix the bios? I hate to get frustrated and angry when people have been so willing to voluntarily help me in the forums I'm posting in, but their "solutions" always overlook the facts:
A) I have not been able to successfully FTP in
B) I do not have a programmer
C) I currently have no dashboards on the HDD, just Flashbios and a broken x2bios on the chip

Okay, here's the deal: I have a file called x2_5035_vOld_512k. I have the same 2.6 xecuter as this forum would imply I do, which has two 512k banks. The first bank "boots" to black with the FRAG lights. The second bank has Flashbios. What do I do? There it is. What do I do?

A quick reply to Emperor.
0.1 Grab a pen and a paper and note down the steps you've taken to get your xbox working. It's important to take note of what you've done. check out my entire suggestion before proceeding.
1. "I have not been able to successfully FTP in" - If you do a quick Google search for "xbox ftp password", you'll find the first result http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/ftp-ie.php says the default password would be username = xbox, password = xbox. Try this out onyour Flashfxp.
2. Have you tried flashing using Internet Explorer? It might be easier than FTP
3. Boot to FlashBIOS on Bank2, once one, flip the switch over to Bank1 and try the above 2 methods to flash Bank1 with x2_5035_vOld_512k.
4. Don't worry so much about installing a dashboard yet, first try getting x2_5035_vOld_512k to work properly on Bank1.
5. If x2_5035_vOld_512k is installed properly, when you boot your xbox up with the original HDD, the system will boot you into the default/original MS flubber dash. This is the 1st step of determining whether you had the x2_5035_vOld_512k BIOS installed properly or not. If the box failed to boot to MS dash, it could be either:
A. Try booting with the chip DISABLED, if you can't boot then there's something wrong with the default/original MS dash. You might have corrupted some file.
B. If the above step A works, try booting with the chip ENABLED, if you can't boot then either the x2_5035_vOld_512k is corrupted or it wasn't flashed properly. Obtain another copy of x2_5035_vOld_512k.
6. You might want to check out in this forum for methods of Flashing your BIOS. I would recommend burning a copy of x2_5035_vOld_512k onto a DVD-R (with dummy file included of course) as a spare just in case either FTP or HTTP flashing failed. There's no guarantee that the box would read your disc though. It works on mine but I do hear people have problems with the box not reading the media and it only works after multiple use of differrent media and even diff brand of disc.
7. Get yourself a copy of AutoInstaller Deluxe v2 or v3 (AID) and burn to a DVD-R. Once you've determined that your x2_5035_vOld_512k works on Bank1, then you can proceed to install a dash.

The bottom line is concentrate on getting the x2_5035_vOld_512k installed properly. You have the box boot on Bank2 so there's no issue with the hardware here. Once x2_5035_vOld_512k is working, all you have to do is to boot the box with AID disc inside the box. It'll automatically run the program and let you a whole bunch of things including installing dashboards. Good luck and .... do add to my reputation if this help.

The programmer is the best thing in the world. I had this FRAG problem before because I flashed a bad copy of the X2 bios. After I got the programmer, I was able to see that my bios was not 512k in either bank and was successful able to clear, and reflash the banks with the programmer.

Ok Got the programmer - only about 1hr to figure it out - you have to have the switch bank connected - where does it say that in the instructions!!. Reflashed the memeory - working fine now!!
