A quick reply to Emperor.
0.1 Grab a pen and a paper and note down the steps you've taken to get your xbox working. It's important to take note of what you've done. check out my entire suggestion before proceeding.
1. "I have not been able to successfully FTP in" - If you do a quick Google search for "xbox ftp password", you'll find the first result
http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/ftp-ie.php says the default password would be username = xbox, password = xbox. Try this out onyour Flashfxp.
2. Have you tried flashing using Internet Explorer? It might be easier than FTP
3. Boot to FlashBIOS on Bank2, once one, flip the switch over to Bank1 and try the above 2 methods to flash Bank1 with x2_5035_vOld_512k.
4. Don't worry so much about installing a dashboard yet, first try getting x2_5035_vOld_512k to work properly on Bank1.
5. If x2_5035_vOld_512k is installed properly, when you boot your xbox up with the original HDD, the system will boot you into the default/original MS flubber dash. This is the 1st step of determining whether you had the x2_5035_vOld_512k BIOS installed properly or not. If the box failed to boot to MS dash, it could be either:
A. Try booting with the chip DISABLED, if you can't boot then there's something wrong with the default/original MS dash. You might have corrupted some file.
B. If the above step A works, try booting with the chip ENABLED, if you can't boot then either the x2_5035_vOld_512k is corrupted or it wasn't flashed properly. Obtain another copy of x2_5035_vOld_512k.
6. You might want to check out in this forum for methods of Flashing your BIOS. I would recommend burning a copy of x2_5035_vOld_512k onto a DVD-R (with dummy file included of course) as a spare just in case either FTP or HTTP flashing failed. There's no guarantee that the box would read your disc though. It works on mine but I do hear people have problems with the box not reading the media and it only works after multiple use of differrent media and even diff brand of disc.
7. Get yourself a copy of AutoInstaller Deluxe v2 or v3 (AID) and burn to a DVD-R. Once you've determined that your x2_5035_vOld_512k works on Bank1, then you can proceed to install a dash.
The bottom line is concentrate on getting the x2_5035_vOld_512k installed properly. You have the box boot on Bank2 so there's no issue with the hardware here. Once x2_5035_vOld_512k is working, all you have to do is to boot the box with AID disc inside the box. It'll automatically run the program and let you a whole bunch of things including installing dashboards. Good luck and .... do add to my reputation if this help.
