Its a v. 1.0 and i had to do the wire install because there is already solder in the holes on the motherboard

Oh I forgot, it doesnt even boot to ms dash. I have heard some people trying combinations in Bank select but wasnt sure if that would help so I didnt try.

This happened to my XBOX several times. To do the lpc pin header install, just get some solder braid, it's easy to use, takes the solder out perfectly and only costs about 99p.

You need to make sure that your modchip is connected properly. Do the lpc pin header install and then solder a wire from each pin to the corresponding connector if it still won't work. So it would be connected to the lpc pins and have wires soldered to them. This is how I made my X2.3B Lite connect properly.

I did this - but i'm still getting the frag - with the reboot and flashing red/green - i even pulled out the good ol multimeter and traced the tracing back and forth through the board and to the chip and it all seems to work? i'm a noob at tracing pcbs so I did the best I can - still nothing doing - i wonder what is the possiblity of a bad chip? or who is recommended to test somthing like this?

the box is a 1.6 with hynix memory...

But even if the modchip isnt soldered properly the XBOX doesnt even boot to the MS dash. Could there be another reason why it doesnt boot up normally?

yeah the traces are fine - i double checked those - and with the lpc desoldered and chip uplugged the box works fine... i get two blue lights on the chip and the red x on the frontpanel switch and it still flashes green/red...

If you have Hynix memory, you have a 1.6b. So, make sure you have Flash BIOS 3.0.3. You mentioned that both LEDs on the chip are on, but the display shows red. Check your D0 connection. Also, check your pin header area for any solder splashes. I just did 2 boxes over the weekend and had to use the desoldering braid to cleanup the area around the pin header. There were apparently solder splashes that I couldn't even see. I just dropped on the braid flush on the board, heated it for a split second and then moved the braid away. After I cleaned up the area, the unit worked fine. This was the first time I had fragging that required me to cleanup the pin header area.

cool thanks - i will try this out - yeah i did the soldering under a magnifying glass just so i could make sure i wasn't splashing but who knows i might have missed somthing... if it's the D0 then how do I test? is there another point on the mobo that I can hook to with my multimeter?

What version motherboard do you have?

If it's a V1.6 what RAM does the motherboard have on it?

Flashbios version/video problem possibly!

How do I know what type RAM, I got the same problem, except my x3 flashes red, pcb install , all "looks" good.
