OK, here's the deal. I've got a 1.6 mobo and am trying to put an X3 in it. I've done this about 15 times or so, so i'm not new to this. The problem is that besides fragging, I know that when the chip is in and the alternate 5V is not connected, the chip will always be on. Mine is not. If the chip is plugged in & alt. 5V not connected, the 5V & 3.3V lights on the chip don't come on. When I connect the 5V & turn the xbox on, it frags & both 5V & 3.3V lights are on like they're supposed to be. Here are my multimeter reports.

XBOX on, modchip not connected (ie readings off the pins)
1 - 1.63V
2 - 0
3 - 0
5 - 3.27V
7 - 3.32V
8 - 3.32V
9 - 3.32V
10 - 3.32V
11 - 3.32V
12 - 0
13 - 3.33V
14 - 3.33V
15 - 3.33V

XBOX on & FRAGging, modchip connected (ie readings off the back of the X3)
1 - 0
2 - 0
3 - 0
5 - 0.13V
7 - 3.32V
8 - 3.32V
9 - 3.32V
10 - 3.32V
11 - 3.32V
12 - 0
13 - 3.33V
14 - 3.33V
15 - 3.33V

I checked everything in relation to what I found here:
http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/lpc-diag.php & everything looked ok except pin1 which should read 1.6V.

XBOX works fine with the chip desabled.
Anyone have any ideas or help me on this? Please.

P.S. I should also note, that I can boot up to the backup BIOS by holding eject & power on. I can also boot to any 256K bios by toggling the external switch. However, if I toglle to a 512, 1MB, 2MB BIOS i get the FRAG. I can flash when booting up to the backup BIOS, but then it FRAGS.

P.P.S I have tried 3 different X3 chips and they all do the same thing, however work fine in my other XBox, so it's not the chip.

Wow - Someone with exactly the same problem at last. Keep me updated if you find a solution. FYI - we have just changed from a pin header to wire install to see if it makes a difference and it doesn't. Exactly the same. If we get to the bottom of it I'll let you know.

Cheers

i had the same problem. turns out i forgot one of the rebuild solderpoints.
check the 1.6 install tutorial and verify that all of your rebuild solderpoints are done, and are done properly

Yeah, i've quadrupile checked the rebuild points & they are correct especially since i'm getting the voltage ok. Still not working. I've done another box since then & no problems with that one.

n00b question!

As for backing up I have the kreon drive 163b and I have a good burner and the 2 required programs to back up my games. The question is am I gonna need more then that. If I go out and buy a brand new game and back it up case of kids...will I need additional software I have the XBC 2.9 and the abgx360 program and I think my xbox 360 has the newest firmware..will there be the need for additional programs? All the games I have backed up have worked so..

Re: n00b question!

i wouldnt use a kreon drive mate as theyre crap. id get yourself a spare 360 drive and flash it with 0800 firmware and use it as a ripping drive. it will ensure that the games are ripped with ssv2 which is needed if using LT.

hope that helps.

Hey Flashing 360 will any spare x-box 360 drive flashed to 0800fw workinstead of a the kreon drive?
or is 1 specific model of 360 drive work better??

Thanks in Advance

Re: n00b question!

obviously there is no 0800 for hitachi. ive used sammy/benq/liteon and they all as good as each other. im using a sammy at the min and ive not had 1 failed rip so any of the 3 flashed with 0800 will work fine mate.
