It started after UPS lost/redirected my shippment. System-Mods could not help much, but they did get on UPS, and still my shipment took over 3 weeks! After UPS finally delivered my package, the holidays were on me and I should have waited to do my X3 install. I was upgrading an already modified v1.4 box from an x2.3B lite to an X3 with a Pro switch and XLCD. I was able to just unsolder my Do and just add the 3 header pins needed to complete the install. I have upgraded several other boxes this way without a hitch! Time was a factor, and I was hurried, but it should be OK? wrong! I reassembled the complete xbox as my many other installations have always worked, turned on the box and it powers up and down 3 times and FRAG! Well I was a bit exasperated to say the least. Had my shippent been damaged by UPS in its 3 week journey? The package was rather banged up when it arrived but the contents looked OK. So I quick checked my Do as this is the usual point of failure, it looked fine! I did many other things, resoldered Do 2 times, started disconnecting the switch and XLCD to eliminate them as problems, etc... Well Xmas arrived and I decided to take a break and come back to it after the holidays. Well today I had a little time to revist my first failure and low and behold, I had my Do point on the wrong trace! It was connected fine and perfect, it was just on the wrong point. I, in my haste, had not oriented the board the correct way and picked the wrong point! I have done many xboxes and severaL X3 and just got careless! I moved my Do to the correct point and voila its running like a champ!
So not only check your Do, make sure it is in the correct place!
