Okay. This is my third modchip install, so I don't consider myself a complete noob. I just performed a Pin Header install on a v1.0 xbox with a 2.6CE chip. They only thing that I was unhappy about was the fact that maybe I left the soldering iron on the LPC slightly too long while removing the solder from the holes (5-8 seconds). Everything afer that went smoothly. So, I assembled the xbox, and added a new 160G HDD. I booted the xbox, and I got the dreaded FRAG! No rebooting, no Cromwell screen, just splashscreen to FRAG, to ERROR 16. Bad dashboard files right? Okay - so, I resoldered all points just to be sure, and replaced the old HDD. Still FRAG. Now I'm starting to worry. I removed the chip and tried to boot again. No luck. I checked the surface of the board for any solder splash or broken traces and found none that I could see. I don't have a magnifying glass or anything, but I have good eyesight. I was hoping someone could provied some insight to my problem, and whether or not I should actually remove the Pin Header itself and try again. I hope I didn't fry the board. Thanks in advance...

maybe worth checking all the lpc points with a meter ...... i have a simular problem with a ver 1 and have found no voltage on pin 3 but can`t see any broken traces so maybe the lpc is knacked ..... next time it will be a wire install on a ver 1 cleaning the solder aint worth the risk ! ..... btw my box boots fine with the chip off so maybe a soft mod is the answer to my problem

the first time you got Error 16, you should have tried putting in the old hdd and boot up again without resoldering anything at that point

since the box doesn't boot with the chip removed, you should remove everything and get the box functioning again as if there was no chip install
