Hi,

I have an X3 i got around december...installed and flashed 1959 bios with no problems and been happy since. Recently i got a wild hair up my ass and decided to update the bios to the lates and got 3294 from xbins. The flash went fine straight from the BIOS menu off the HD and it turned off as expected. I even played games on it that day after the flash just fine.

The next day I go to boot it up and its fragging. I try to boot to backup bios by holding the eject and power button and get the same thing. If I hold the power button to disable the chip i of course get your box is in need of repairs.

I opened it up and checked all my solder points although I'm not sure how the hell they could have gotten screwed up....they all look good. If i put the stock hard drive back in with the original files and boot with chip disabled then it works fine and I can play originals etc.

Any thougts/help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm.. you say you could play games after flashing 3294. Something has happened since you turned it off.
Your xbox should do as it did with chip disabled and original hdd so this is a non- issue. When I hold my power button, I do not get an error, I get M$ dash.

Nothing that I can think of has changed since that time i turned it off unless I somehow bumped it and screwed a solder point I guess. I really doubt that is what happened but I guess i can resolder every point. My 200 gig drive isn't locked so that is why it brings up an error with chip disabled I beleive.

Yes, the reason you're not getting to MS dash with the chip off is because it's unlocked.

The best test for a good solder connection is to try to boot the backup BIOS - if this isn't working, then somethings come loose.

Yeah I can't boot to the backup BIOS only chip disabled.

*sigh* I guess I will get it open and resolder all the points tonight, I was hoping to avoid that ;).

I'll report back with my results, thanks for the input.

Resoldered all the points and now it works...guess i should have just gone with my instinct and done it. STill at a loss as to how a connection went bad, the thing never moves.

Thanks for the replies.
