HI.
I've installed an X3 modchip in my Crystal 1.6 XBox and flashed it with 3.0.3. After that I installed the latest Evox dashboard. Everything was working fine.
Then I decided to replace the HD with a bigger one. I followed the instructions as can be found on xbox-scene.
After installing the HD, I wanted to boot the XBox with the latest Slayer setup DVD so that I can prepare the new HD (which was actually on old HD from my PC. So it has some data on it)
But after connecting everything, the XBox does not start with the mod enabled. It starts and stops two times. Then it starts flashing green/red. If I disable the mod, the xbox starts but after some time I get the service screen with error 16.
Placing the (unmodified) retail HDD back into the xbox does not solve this problem.
I've read that this is probably caused by the clock that needs to be set. A solution to this could be: flash the eprom with a D6 (?) bios. This bios skips the clock check. Problem is: I don't have a device to flash the eprom outside the xbox.
My questions are:
(1) If I try to start up by pressing power/eject, do I then get the initial startup screen of the X3? (Where you can start flashing any bios)?
(2) Does removing the X3 help? I.e. remove all solderings and placing the retail HD back in the xbox?
(3) Is there any other option that I can try?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Patrick
