Fragging after new HD install (Error code 16)

HI.

I've installed an X3 modchip in my Crystal 1.6 XBox and flashed it with 3.0.3. After that I installed the latest Evox dashboard. Everything was working fine.
Then I decided to replace the HD with a bigger one. I followed the instructions as can be found on xbox-scene.
After installing the HD, I wanted to boot the XBox with the latest Slayer setup DVD so that I can prepare the new HD (which was actually on old HD from my PC. So it has some data on it)

But after connecting everything, the XBox does not start with the mod enabled. It starts and stops two times. Then it starts flashing green/red. If I disable the mod, the xbox starts but after some time I get the service screen with error 16.

Placing the (unmodified) retail HDD back into the xbox does not solve this problem.

I've read that this is probably caused by the clock that needs to be set. A solution to this could be: flash the eprom with a D6 (?) bios. This bios skips the clock check. Problem is: I don't have a device to flash the eprom outside the xbox.

My questions are:
(1) If I try to start up by pressing power/eject, do I then get the initial startup screen of the X3? (Where you can start flashing any bios)?
(2) Does removing the X3 help? I.e. remove all solderings and placing the retail HD back in the xbox?
(3) Is there any other option that I can try?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
Patrick

Refit the Stock HDD and boot with the chip disabled. Hopefully you should see a "set date" screen - if you don't then unplug the Xbox for a few hours and then try.. :)

Is there a way to MOD a 360 to just play burnt games>?

Hi sorry for my noobness, someone I know wants me to try to mod their 360, all I know is that its an older model, no HD, is there a way to just stick a file on a USB stick or something, and pop it in and boom, it can play burnt games? is this possible? or something like it? or is it going to be a big hassle to research and learn?

Go to jungleflasher.net, under Downloads, download the latest version of Jungle Flasher (currently Jungle Flasher V0.1.71 beta (98)) and read the JungleFlasher Tutorial under Guides & Tutorials.

Flashing a Samsung will require little work and no soldering.

sounds good to me! thanks for all the help here, as long as theres no soldering then I can manage it, I've usually been pretty good with electronics. I've soft modded a first gen xbox, someone ells did the little bit of soldering that there was but thanks alot for the help. What kinda CD's will it read after this, Dual layer disks, dvd-R?

Xbox 360 games are about 8 GB and cannot be put on a DVD or CD. Xbox 360 games are made using DVD+R DL (double/dual layer) media, so you will need some of those if you plan on making your own 360 game backups. The drive plays everything else like it used to. Please note, the latest hacked firmware for Samsung drives is iXtreme 1.61 which is not safe on XBL, even if you play offline your console may still get flagged.

OK, so lemme get this straight. I take the samsung CD drive out of the xbox, and connect it to my pc as if it were made for it correct? then I launch Jungle flasher, unlock it with the MTKFlash32 tab, then let the program read the firmware then auto load iXtreme and then wright it to the drive. If this is it, then it sounds pretty easy, unless im mistaken in some way....

How would it get flagged if its never connected to the internet?

Re: Is there a way to MOD a 360 to just play burnt games>

and whats the point of doing all this if they cant be burn to a disk and used? What if I bought a game and it got damaged and didnt have the money to fork out on the same game again, so I just wanted to burn it or copy it to another disk for safe keeping, If you are telling me I cannot do this, this thread has been a waste.

So do I have to get a switch for the HD, or should it plug right into my computer, it's not old, its only 2 months old, AMD II x4 2.6GHz 6Gigs 650GBHD Galaxy Geforce GT220 1GB 128bit DDR2 windows 7 home premium and do I have to download the firmware separately or does it come with Jungle Flasher?
