Please help anyone!!! This is the first time I have done anything like this and everything seemed to work out ok...................BUT. When I try to boot to flashBIOS I get the on off on off on frag crap; when I boot to the ms dash everything works fine; and when I try to boot to the 256k backup nothing happens at all, it won't even turn on. I haven't checked the solder points on the LPC yet, and I will first thing in the morning it's too damn late now, but I couldn't find anything about the backup not working and thought before I rip my hair out soldering and resoldering and have it do me no good I wanted to see if anyone could tell me why the backup doesn't work and if there are any other fixes I should try if resoldering doesn't work. Thanks a ton to anyone who lends a hand.

first check switches are set on,on,off,off,off (bank1)...
on the backup flash...
Backup is tricky to get fired up ...u have to press the buttons just right...
Tap them don't press them and try to hit one just slightly ahead of the other

I found it MUCH easier to hold the power button for a moment, as if you were booting into disabled and then press the eject for a split second til the light flashes purple, then quickly release both.
This works everytime and although the tray pops out (just shut it) - everytime's a charm !! It's not hard !

Edit: If you have a 1.6B box - the backup may not work - instead try booting to bank 2 - which I think is off,on,off,off,off. This SHOULD contain 3.0.3 which is compatible with 1.6B's (and previous)

thanks but i can't get anything to work. the xecuter logo is always red no matter what. i cannot boot to the backup. i tried resoldering the lpc, i have even used wires over the board that i used at first. i also read a post saying to check the pins are all level and not bent when fragging, does anyone know if they need to be perfect or it will easily cause a problem. mine aren't perfect but neither are they a disfigured mess. i don't know what to do, i think i'm going to ask a friend with some more experience soldering to fix it (god i hope). if anyone can at least tell me that this is almost surely a problem with my lpc rebuild and most likely can be fixed i can at least try and relax until i talk to my friend. thanks again guys.
i just wanted to add that after your advice with the power/eject timing i am now able to boot the xbox up but there is no screen so i cannot tell if it is working. if this is working shouldn't my x3 CE should have come with the first 1 MB bank flashed, and if so then why with fragging?

if you have a pro switch then starting left to right flash protect comes first instead of last..
in this case set off,off,on,off,off.
If u still frag then go back to soldering (sorry!) and check all very carefully.

yeah i tried the second bank and nothing. it seems like the backup boots (ie: the chip is on and the xbox is on and not fragging) but there is no screen. i don't know if this is really relevant at all but if this means chip is working then how can i get video, or what part should i check for errors?
Check your dip switch female plug (inside where the tiny pins are.)
I bent one of mine and had to soder a wire splice to the contacts of the dip switch terminal. But that wasn't the entire cure for my fragging problem, it still fragged. The next problem was that when I plugged the dip switch leads back into the terminal I forgot to retrieve the bent pin and I pressed it up against another one and caused a bad circuit..

What version xbox? What chip is it, i.e. is it a CE? Have you tried removing the switch bank from the X3 itself. Do not just remove the switches remove the switch wires from the X3 itself.
I just ordered a CE chip and installed it friday it came with 3.0.1 on the backup and 3.0.3 on the chip. If your switches are causing a problem on it I would guess it is possible for you not to be booting 3.0.3 causing the frag issue. Trying to boot 3.0.1 only works 1 out of ten times on a 1.6b according to something I read online a while back.
