Heres whats happening...

Xbox boots fine when chip disabled, frags when enabled.

Info on install...

Soldered using the pin header, and all of the points seem good
I have even "touched" them up to make sure.
I know D0 point is good since I measured the resistance between the two D0 points and it is minimal.
I am unsing MS controlers, but an "aftermarket" av wire.(don't see how that would make a differnce)
Xbox is V1.4

If you have any ideas on what could be the problem I'ld appreciate it.

Thanks

check the wires going from the chip to the external swtich, that none are getting pinched and that they are connected properly at both ends

could be a bad switch too, same thing happened to me before and it turned out that the switch is defective...

And you're right that the D0 point is good because if not, you will get the same result with the chip on or off...and if you can possibly get the original av cable, you can try using that to make sure that it is not a cable problem.

My 2.6CE was booting to FlashBIOS but I mistakenly flashed Bank 2 with the X3 bios.

Now It boots to a flashing red eject button no matter which bank I select.

Is there any way to fix this?

I am reading in a few other threads that I may be out of luck with the chip as it is?

One solution is that I may need to buy a programmer, right? But, the programmer seems to cost as much as a new chip. Could I buy a new chip and sucessfully swap it out with the one I flashed over?

Some background:

I first tried to flash evox to the chip. The flashing appeared to go as planned but after it was rebooted it just continued to boot to FlashBIOS. That's what lead me to try another BIOS version, but I chose X3 by mistake.

Could the fact that I was inable to flash evox indicate other problems?

I have a 1.6 version xbox, and the harddrive is original but formatted.

First of all, X2.6 chip has 1mb memory capacity and the x3 bios that you flashed with it is also 1mb, meaning you erased both flashbios on both banks.

You can do what you're planning which is buying a new x2.6 chip and do a hotswap, this time do not use evox bios...Use X2 5035_v16plus.bin nothing else because you have a v1.6 xbox...

Thank you for your help. Not the best of news, but also I guess not the worst.

One more thing, I followed this tutorial to install the chip using the pin header. It made no mention of the LPC rebuild kit so we didn't use it. Will that be a problem?

The 1.6 install is on the bottom of that tutorial. I would check your install against the team xecuter one though.

Yeah, I followed the 1.6 portion of the tutorial, and did the trace soulder points manually using wire.

I'm assuming that that accomplishes the same end as using the LPC rebuild kit, it is just a little more complicated way of getting there, correct?

rebuilding the lpc with wires does the same job as the using the team x rebuild board (board is much easier)

Yes, that looks like the correct version. You should always download your files from Xbins. That way you know for sure what you are getting.
