freezes while flashing

I recently installed a X3 and was flashing it with 1859 when in the middle of the process it froze. Is there any harm in simply turning of the x-box. If so what a safe way to do so. I think the problem could simply be a scratched up disk but if anyone else might have some insight i would greatly appreciate to hear from you. Thank you for any help offered.

Well what does it boot to when you turn it on...if it FRAG's boot to the backup flash and try flashing over network...it works really well.

i hope you mean 1959 bios. It froze on me my first time too through ftp and i just powered off and reflashed and it work perfectly

Mine got to about 60% before freezing, when flashing from DVD.

I just turned off and back on and flashed via/ HTTP.
