Fresh Boot Problems

Bit of a strange one this, which could be regarded as not much of a problem but is none the less to me.

I have recently noticed that I am unable to switch on my box to anything but Avalaunch. When I first received the Xbox, I could boot to either Avalaunch, MSdash or Cromwell by pushing the relevant buttons on the front of my box for the right amount of time. e.g quick press on for Avalaunch, press and hold on for MSdash and hold both on and eject for cromwell.
But i pressed and held the on button to boot to MSdash but the logo just went blue and booted Avalaunch. The same happened when i pressed both buttons to boot Cromwell - it went straight to Avalaunch.

Has anyone ever fallen on this problem before and could help me?? much appreciated!!

Turn off your box, hold down the white button on your controller, turn you box on (keep holding the button). You should get to X3 menu. Disable autolaunch dash.

Thanks loads for the quick reply. Unfortunately, it is already switched to disabled. I even tried reset x3 bios to defaults but that still didnt work:( . As I use Avalaunch, once that has booted up, I can reach the MSdash that way. But still, I should bea ble to cut out the middle man and go straight to the dash via the quick button push.

OK. New update!!

I have realised that if within the X3 Live panel, I can reboot with modchip off. If I do this, then the xbox reboots with the correct Red logo, to the original MSdash. But I am still unable to use the button trick to do this anymore.

Would this point more towards an issue with the wiring or the chip being faulty itself?

I have exhausted other options that I can think of:(

ME Again!!

Ok. Sorted it . Plucked up the courage to take the Xbox apart and found a broken connection at the front of the box where the buttons are situated. bit of solder work and away it went. So there you go......... makes this topic a bit of a waste of time but it could hopefully help others who get this problem.

Thanks anyway;)

How to know which "mod" you have?

Hey everyone! I was given a modded X360 last christmas, it worked great with backups for a while and then sometime last year it stopped reading the more recent backups. I never did anything about it, but I presume I would have to somehow update the firmware or something to be able to also play the latest games?

Before I do that, I believe I'd have to find out what mod I've got, right? :)

Thanks for the help, hope this wasn't asked before as I did not find anything similar around.

Re: How to know which "mod" you have?

You could run your backups(the ones that work) thru abgx & see what wave they are...then run the ones that don't work thru & see what wave they are. Or you could just read the firmware in J/F & it will tell you what the firmware is...
