Front PCB LED intensity control.

Not over there.
I discussed this in another topic about what I would love to see inthe next bios, one thing would be the ability to change the intensity of those LEDs on the front. I keep being blinded and annoyed by them flashing away. Obviously you can tell I'm talking about the LAN/HDD LEDs.

I don't know whether thier control is done through relays or voltage is ragulated by the chip itself. if it's relayed, then maybe a way to put in a variable resistor? If onchip, then is it possible to control it with the bios?

Another question is whether the LEDs are voltage locked, AKA if we bring down the voltage will they just turn off rather than dim...

But those LEDs eed something doing, as I hate having the cable unplugged and hanging.

im pretty sure u would have to change hardware for that software couldnt do it if it wasnt made to. also if it bothers you that much to make this post take it off or but some type of solid tape of the led.

i'm pretty sure thats not possible to do with a bios...

Pessimists, the lot of ya. I really should take my time to take my Xbox apart and look at the chip and follow the route of the HDD/lan inputs.

i guess u could strobe the LED (pulse width modulation) ..different cadence settings at the right speed would give the effect of dimming.

but it's best done by dropping supply voltage to the leds to do this..ie place a diode in series with the LED. (not possible in bios)

if its annoying, then simply unplug the X3 switch from the chip, its not required, you can flash new things through the bios, and besides for new people flashing, it would default your BIOS to the 1MB anyway, i personally dont use the X3 Panel for the same reason, and because my xbox is white :)

just modd it a bit, add a resistor in then, work out the + - wire and put it in there

u would end u f*cking the switch really, and why did u solder them 2 ur mobo if you dont like them?

i think there good but go well with my xbox coz i ahve ultra brigh blue led's

i have a suggestion but i dont know exactly how to do it.

2 of those wires going to the front switch give power to the LED's i believe. if you cut those 2 wires and solder in variable resistors you would be able to control the light intensity. I believe this makes sense because when the lan or hd acts on the motherboard all it does is sends power to the LED, and it does it in burts and thats why it blinks.

another idea would be apply a thin layer of glue and some dark cellophane over the lights to dim them

be creative ^_~
