you can flash via http:
you need to network the xbox to PC, assign an IP address to xbox and PC if u are not using a dhcp router.
Then in internet browser, type in the assigned IP address assigned to Xbox (once u selected hte flash via http method in flash bios).

FTP and HTTP are different protocols although both transported over the same network they provide different services. As FlashBIOS is only a tool with one main function and doesn't setup your file system in which case it would probably provide an FTP server if it did to allow file access, but thats not its purpose. Using a web browser is much easier and simplier since everyone has one and the webpage will give you complete and easy instructions to follow. Not everyone has an FTP client.
It is still possible to flash your bios with an FTP client you just need to have your XBox setup for it. X3 Config Live allows this.

no you do not need to be online have xbox hooked up to pc then open internet explorer follow as in guide
