I am using filezilla. When tranfering files through ftp to my xbox not all of them show up when completed. Why is this? Has anyone seen it before?

I think I've seen this happen, it's when the filenames are not valid fatx filenames

The xbox file system only supports file name around 38 character I think. I have the same on smartFTP it will look like its transfering but they wont be there on you box, Where do the go we just don't know. I think FlashFXP wont let you transfer anything that the Box doesn't like.

Jup..

The pathname is to long... This is not a problem for FTP programs so they let it thru, the X3 does not "understand" paths that are to long so they files get thrown into the binary wastebasket...

Very easy to circumvent if you just make sure to not make a directory like:

Very Nice Game That I Want To play Again and Again \default.xbe ..

That wont work...

In the end this means that the FTP implementation on the X3 is not fully ok, so a possible improvement on this would be to have the X3 stop filetransfer when such a filename is received instead of just going on..

It's not only the length of the filename. Special characters like ] are not supprted too. I had the same with some Divx movies, changed the filenames and voila, it worked.

make sure you actually open the main folder on both your computer and the xbox, if you just drag a folder over the top of another folder, they dont transfer

I had a problem with CuteFTP showing multiple folder names within folders e.g C\audio\audio\audio\audio when there was only 1 folder - also didn't show allmy folders and when copying files accross would act retarded....but Flashxp(?) worked like a charm - fast and accurate..

I have problems with ftping files within folders :( . I can copy files fine but say i grab 3 files and 3 folders (with files in the folders) it will say its copying but only the first files will copy not the folders or the files within them.

It works fine with other apps like unleashx or evox. I know what the problem probably is - im on a mac! and the x3 doesnt like that :( .

Or maybe someone knows how i can fix it ?

The mac shouldn't be a problem.
I have a mac to but ftp is fine.
I use fetch for it.

Come to think of it I do have problems too.
I have OSX using the command line ftp I can create directories on the XBox and ftp file to it.
Using any ftp program I can't create directories.

So I create them using commandline ftp and then copy files using fetch.

Other ftp programs don't let me do any transfer, it shows me all directories are forbidden for me.

Repairing banned xbox

Hey people,
My xbox was banned a few months ago and started giving me the 3rrod shortly after. Now, I found a pretty good deal on a new motherboard for the system and I plan on updating my BenQ with the LT firmware.
My question is if I do this, will I be able to connect to XBL again? If so, will I need to create a new XBL account or will my old XBL account still work?

Re: Repairing banned xbox

you just have to recover your gamer tag and everything will be intact.

make sure you get the dvd key with the new motherboard if you don't then
you won't be able to use the old benq drive.....
