I installed my xecuter 3 today and secussfully got it running and installed it with the newest X3 Bios.

my xbox is plugged into the 4th port on my router, and i know for a fact that i should access it threw 192.168.0.4, because thats where i loaded my bios from.

when i try to do ftp://x3:[email protected]/ i get an error. my login/password are deffiently x3 x3. what do i have to do on my xbox?

right now i have it set to
DHCP: Enabled
Set Static IP: 192.168.0.4
Set Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Set Gateway IP: 192.168.0.4
SET DNS1: 0.0.0.0
SET DNS2: 0.0.0.0
FTP LOGIN: x3
FTP PASSWORD: x3

what would i have to change it to to ftp it? all i get is errors. please help me.
EDIT: i just fixed my ftp problem, but could anyone come up for an explantion for why im getting DoS'ed on my computer? read below.

also, seince i've installed my modchip and attempted to ftp it for the first time, my computer gets DoS even tho my xbox can get online and my router deffeitly shows i have internet connection, if you know what could be cause that please help =)

First of all, what are you trying to do with the X3 FTP server ? Once your BIOS is flashed, why not just use the Evolution X FTP server to manage the files ? Also, you have some strange settings in your network setup. Why are both the IP address AND the gateway IP set to the same IP address ? If anything, the gateway should be the router's IP address.

Ten bucks and a golden cookie says that your running XP with SP2 and have your firewall enabled...

Even if it's off you have to go into setup and allow port 21(ftp).

While your at it allow port 6881 and post your ip... then go buy something on-line... thanks;)

I'm a compleat nOOb too. I can ftp to my website all day long but the xbox was killin' me...

Try this site out - couple of good tuts that don't operate on the assumption that reader knows head-from-hole-in-ground... :) It helped me figure out that I had both the pc to xbox nic & the pc to router nic set to the same subnet *doh*...:

(There's a lot of binary math stuff for the pocket protector crowd too - read it, it's written out fairly easy to understand and even if you don't get it down you'll catch the basics and slap your forehead like I did.)

I had this problem too. I never did figure out why.

I was installing an Xecuter 3 into a friends XBox.

In the end, I prepped the drive, unlocked it and put it in my XBox (which has a SmartXX mod chip in it). FTP worked perfectly with the SmartXX and "Ed on a Chip". So I transferred Avalaunch on and moved the drive back.

Once I had avalaunch working, I was able to FTP to it and do what I needed to do.

From the same machine I can ftp to my SmartXX bios... to avalaunch... to a running XBox ftp client application... but not to X3 Config Live. Guess which one must be busted?
