are you useing xp
if so do this
go down to
start then run
in there type command
then once dos comes up type in ipconfig /all
you ip of your pc will now be shown 192.168.1.??

now go to you xbox and set static ip in dash or bios if your pc was 192.168.1.1 set xbox to 192.168.1.2 just make it close to your pc
now reboot xbox now still in dos type ping 192.168.1.2 hit enter it will now ping your xbox it will tell you that packets sent = 4 recevied= 4 and lost =0 (0%)
you know now that you are able to ftp to you xbox

Turn on Internet Connection Sharing in Windows, and enable DHCP in your dashboard.
