Never heard of this happening, and on the two systems I have with XP SP2 I've had no problems. First thing I'd try is disabling the personal firewall and see if that makes any difference. If your PC is connected directly to the internet or you have no other firewall in the network I would advise that you only take this down for a short period of testing.

How is your Xbox connected to your computer? If it is via a direct connection, it is probably because Internet Connection Sharing is no longer enabled. It may also be that the NIC you have your Xbox connected to does not have the drivers installed properly.

Its connected via a router to the house's internal LAN. It works for 2 out of 4 of the people in the house.

Does that mean 2 people can FTP to it? Can you FTP to other internet sites with that computer? Can you ping your xbox from that computer?

It's a Windows XP Firewall issue.

enable it (trust me) on all devices and try to FTP. It'll ask you if you want to allow it. Accept. Once this is done, you can disable it. It's a known bug!

Or... you can go into your settings and tell XP that your PC uses FTP... there's all sorts of settings for web servers, ftp servers and whatnot...

What martin says does the same thing. My way is just the M$ way to do it. :D

Ok... so your getting into the server... but you can't transfer files.

Try to do it from a command prompt to make sure your ftp app isn't messed up. Or get a different app like WS_FTP.

Using a web browser (only tried with IE here) can cause some goofy things on the server side. If your dash reports the number of connected users and has a limit keep tabs on this, you may see more than one user connected if accessing by FTP through a browser. If you hit the max number of concurrent users (default is 2 in most dashes I think) you may not be able to get to any more files. For the few times I need to access my dash via browser FTP I may either need to occasionally restart the FTP server (can do this in UnleashX) to clear the number of logged in users or just temporarily set the allowed number of users to no max. I'd recommend this only if you have no other means, but it usually is easier than through a command prompt. While I don't personally use FlashFXP I know it is highly recommended in the mod scene.
