ftp new hdd

i am using this guide http://einstein.etsu.edu/~zajb19/xbox/n00b_survival.pdf
to do my install. right now i am at the part where you swap hdd and ftp the c: and e: back onto the new hdd. but when i go into the ftp and log onto the xbox i can transfer the files over and it says there transfering but after its done i can't see any files over on the xbox is there a step missing in this guide. the jumper on the new hdd was set to the same as the stock one too. the hdd is unlocked too

Nevermind stupid me tried to send the files to the c and e folders when i should have opened each folder and sent them there

not sure if this is the right place.

i have a SH-s223 (tosihba-samsung SATA DVD Writer)

is there firmware around that will allow me to make this drive able to read xbox 360 games for backing up?

No.

you need to use a spare xbox 360 drive flashed with 0800 firmware or you could get a kreon drive.

i might be being stupid here, but i thought a kreon drive was a samsung drive flashed with the 'right' firmware?

yes thats true but theres specific model numbers and that isnt one of them. you cant just use any old samsung.

ahhh ok, i thought i could flash any samsung drive with the right firmware and it would work. i tohught i could flash it with the firmware and prehaps lose the DVD writing facility but that wouldn't bother me.
