A hub does not assign IP addresses. You will have to disable DCHP on your Xbox and setup your network settings manually.

hmm but I am in fact entering all my settings manualy unless you mean I have to erase all the settings in my box and type them in again other then that I do set my box to have a static IP im using the same subnet mask for my comp and box - 255.255.255.0 and Im using no DNS for either and giving my box an IP of 192.168.0.200 and a default gateway of 192.168.1.1 and Im giving an IP to my comp as 192.168.0.2

and like I said flash fxp connects right away it dosn't show me anything it just says connected and then shortly after says lost connection

Make sure your computer and the Xbox both have IP addresses in the same subnet. You list your Xbox as having IP 192.168.1.200, but your PC set to 192.168.0.2. Change that zero to a 1 so that both start off wit the same 3 numbers. 192.168.1.x This could be your problem.

alright well I tried that and got the same result let me give some more details
I have a slayers disk that when loaded gives me the common options with slayers but I really dont want to format my hd and lose all my sh*t so im just getting my setting from the setup in the disk in order to ftp to it and get my old dash back im using a hub -- no crossovers -- setting all my ip settings/values correctly / I think \ or atleast now I am Im using flash fxp which is expired but still works ??? and when I connect it says connected for about 10 sec dosn't show me a thing and then says connection lost

Im wondering if using a hub would be easier or would that probably give me the same issue
I also remember having this same problem when my dash did work

any how any help is greatly apreciated

A router would make the situation a lot easier. At the very least it would eliminate the need for you to configure the network.

Maybe it is disconnecting because your software is expired. Download FileZilla, it is a free FTP client that will never expire and give that a shot.

Why use slayer's if all you want to do is FTP? Why not make a bootable CD/DVD of your selected dash? That way you could edit the config file for the dashboard before burning it to a disc. I'm not sure how slayer's is setup, but if you are changing the settings via the Xbox, as soon as you reboot you will lose those settings because it will read the file from the disc.

Not on this planet!
Three things

What are you using Cross over or straight CAT 5?
Have you a dash on your box, EVOX, AVA, UNLEASHX? Other than the boot disk
Why do you have to put the slayers disk in to get to FTP?

Once the dash is booted you should be able to navigate to the network settings, On EVOX V+3935 this can be found from scrolling down to system management, then selecting system settings.
SETUP NETWORK YES

USE STATIC IP YES

IP **********(add your own)
SUBNETMASK **********(add your own)
DEFAULT GATEWAY **********(whatever your router IP gateway is)
DNS Leave Blank

DNS Leave Blank

Setup Delay 5

Skip Setup if No link YES

In EVOX scroll over each of the options above, press the “A” button and change it to your desired settings

Once done and all the settings are to your liking then scroll down to the bottom of the page and select SAVE AND EXIT, press the “A”button to confirm.

Hey, you said it first!

Ok, listen to what Dreamreaper said. Also, see if you are getting link lights on your equipment. Start at the begining... are you getting links, are you using the right cable... PC to Xbox is cross-over... Router to Xbox is straight through... then we'll move on.

If you turn your cable so the clip in facing down there should ba an orange cable at the left side of both your RJ-45 connectors. If one of the sides of one of the connectors is green then you have a cross over cable.

well, if your pc says that you're connecting, then your cable is probably fine

go to a command prompt and try to ping your xbox

one thing that i had problems with was zone alarm. even though ZA was "disabled" it still had some network blizz-blazz that was preventing my pc from connecting to my xbox. i had to completely uninstall ZA to get the connection back.
