XBOX

my current xbox ip is : 192.168.1.3
Static Network = Yes
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway = 192.168.1.2

PC

under the TCP/IP settings on my NIC

Manually set
IP - 192.168.1.3
Sub - 255.255.255.0
Gateway - 192.168.1.2

and this thing just does not want to work, it is connected, because on the status screen it has sent packets to the xbox, BUT hasnt recieved anything back,

now, im runnin zone alarm if that has anything to do with it? and the ip for the NIC on zone alarm is TOTTALY different :(

im sooo confused its untrue,

any help would be appreciated

Cheers

Zone alarm definitely has to be off.
Also your setup is for a router/hub is that what your using?

Your problem is simple. Are you plugging both the PC and Xbox to a router or not? Or is this through crossover cable? That would be an important data.

Nevertheless, your problem is you assigned both the same address. Just imagine your house and your neighbor have same address. That would confuse your mailman or any delivery man would it? What you must do is this (and I'm assuming you plugged both into a router with dhcp disabled):

Xbox: ip 192.168.1.3
Static Network = Yes
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway = 192.168.1.1

NOTE: usually your router would have ip of 192.168.1.1

Your PC would be:

IP - 192.168.1.2
Sub - 255.255.255.0
Gateway - 192.168.1.1

If using crossover cable to connect your xbox directly to your PC you need to configure like so:

Xbox: ip 192.168.1.3
Static Network = Yes
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway = 192.168.1.2

PC:
IP - 192.168.1.2
Sub - 255.255.255.0
Gateway - 192.168.1.3

You may not need to disable your zone alarm if you ftp files from your pc to xbox but you do have to disable it if you want files from xbox to pc.

just want to make sure and ask: When you setup your FTP client on your PC, the ip that you want to connect is : 192.168.1.3 and username and password are xbox right?

and also your xbox needs to be on Evox main dash.

you are definitely on alcohol. My question was for Simpo20 because he couldn't see his folders !! I had assumed he disabled zone alarm as I had stated on my instructions at the bottom.

Allright... you have an Xbox... a router... and a PC.

I'm going to assume that you prolly have one of those Linksys 5 port routers that run nat and have a firewall and what not.

The xbox will pick up an IP from the router if it's running DHCP (dynamic host con... nevermind;)). I've always set my IP so I don't really know if the Xbox bios will show the ip that it has recieved through dhcp but it seems from your post that it does.

Fisrt step for you is to ping your xbox from your PC.

I'm also assuming your using windows. Go to run, type cmd. in the command window that comes up type ping (your xbox IP)

If you get a reply then we can go to step two. If not post it and we'll work on that...

So now you can pass traffic to your xbox. Once again assuming your using windows, you might want to check the firewall settings for your network connection. This firewall will block port 21 (FTP) defaulty... so you might wat to check it out...

Assuming that works... you just open the command line again (cmd) or any browser... or any FTP program and connect.

Also are you trying to flash the bios or just ftp? Because if your FTPing the pass might be set back to xbox/xbox...

Try these things and get back to us... good luck!

"Save me Jeebus!!"

Same way... ftp. What dash are you using?

And for ISO's you need xiso to open the files and then take whatever you opened and dump them in f:\games

If they don't show on your dash menu I'll show you how to edit your INI file to change that...

And your gonna wanna upgrade the ole HDD soon. You'll fill up that e drive faster then snot.

It's pretty easy...

Also when you get your dash loaded... you can just throw the games in the DVD ROM and copy them!
