My motherboard has onboard LAN. I also have a 802.11g wireless card that allows me to access my brother's wireless internet connection. I have purchased a cross-over cable. I have installed the X3 bios with Xecutor 3 on 1.6 XBOX. I have tried various things and can't seem to get the FTP connection to work.

1) Do I need a dashboard?
2) Do I need an additional NIC card?

No to both.

You'll probably have to setup ICS on your PC with the onboard lan to be able to use both networks though

I am guessing you installed the X3 BIOS from a disk?

Make sure that you have compatable IP's on both your Xbox and your PC on-board NIC. i.e. 192.168.1.???

Make sure when you try to access your Xbox you are using your NIC and not your wireless access. The most certain way is to disable your wireless access and enable your wired access.

PS - and YES... NO and NO to your questions.

To use two diferent NIC in one PC simultaniously you have to make shure the following criteria is set.

The two NIC's (onboard and WLAN) have to be in diferent subnet's
EX:
Onboard: 192.168.0.x / 255.255.255.0
WLAN: 192.168.1.x / 255.255.255.0

(if you get ip automatically with your WLAN adaptor (DHCP) you might want to check witch network this adaptor get's with command "IPCONFIG /ALL" in "command prompt" (Start | Run | cmd | [OK] )

Then you have to enshure that your XBOX get the same subnet as your onboard NIC. (If onboard nic/pc has ip 192.168.1.10 / 255.255.255.0, then XBOX must have ip 192.168.1.x /255.255.255.0 (where x is a number between 1 and 254 but not 10)

ICS with WLAN is crappy, and not always easy.
I gave it up after it f.u. my WIFI settings and generally blocked all my internet connection twize...
But, if it works, then it's easy!

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Still working on it. Not sure if my onboard LAN is working correctly. Am researching. . .
