ANSWERED Fugi Film (Ritek) branded discs pretty good

Besides my verbs I had left over cheaper branded media from awhile ago that I thought I'd try out for sh*ts and giggles. The new manufactured memorex have been giving me problems ever since they changed their packaging and obviously manufacturing well before ap25 and xgd3 days so they were obviously sh*t when testing with xgd3 as I thought they would be. Now besides verbs I've always had great results with Fugi Film branded media (Ritek) and considered them pretty quality (but obviously not near the standards of verbs) so I thought I'd just try them out. Now granted this test is a bit skewed as I used a verb with my mw3 backup and the fugi film is with nhl 12 so since its not xgd3 it didn't use the outer layer so this is just my testing thus far and will update this post with hopefully similar results when I burn my next xgd3 title with the same fugi film (ritek) media. So take this with a grain of salt and stay tuned for definitive results. Personally from this point on I'm not going to be a cheap ass and will be sticking strictly to verbs but just thought it would be interesting to try some of the left over cheaper media.

This is my xgd3 backup of MW3 with mkm-001 verbs

This is my NHL 12 backup with Fugi Film (Ritek) discs

I will update this post the minute I backup and actual xgd3 title with Fugi Film media to test that outer rim.

Ill be surprised if you will even be able to play an xgd3 game burned on Fuji film media...
But we will see i guess

I burned NHL 12 directly after MW3 with the same drive and settings and results seemed pretty decent so I'm expecting the outer rim isn't going to be an issue but then again it might be, im going to throw an xgd3 at it later tonight or tomorrow. I wouldn't be too surprised though as this media has been good to me even back in the old Xtreme days.

Interesting... Thanks for the info. I think i'll stick with verbs tho. But I'm interested in your results with playing them.
Personally I think everyone should be sticking to verbatim, verbs have always been the highest quality media to date and the difference in cost is barely much. That being said there will always be a few who want to pinch pennies or others like me who have left over dual layer media and have no other use for them. I'm going to burn Battlefield 3 either tonight or tomorrow and if I get good kprobe results will give it a play and post my final findings for this media for others but really everyone should be sticking with verbs wherever possible.

I have so far used only RITEK D01 (taiwan) discs for backups, and none of them failed, and all works flawlessly. I have Verbs (singapore) stocked up for XDG3 back ups.

I will test RITEK D01 for XDG3 once LT3 is released for 0225.

The price for Verbs is cheap enough to stick with them. Just for curiosity can you show us what the retail package looks like for the disks youre referring to? A link to a website will work too.

Verbs are the best no point saving few pennies if you arent going to get as good result.

Save yourself the time and effort and end your experiment early, there are so many threads like this on the forum all of which end with the Verbs as undisputed champ.

Please, c4e and the rest of the team knew what they are talking about when they said that verbs were the only compatible media.

I already noticed the following

1st, the burn you show isn't great, there are way too many PIF errors, they may be small but they matter.

2nd, the outer rim is the part the discs fail on, I have seen other disc burn fantastic up to the rim and then it all goes to pieces.

Stick with the verbs they won't let you down.

I agree fully and as said previously verbs are the best hands down. I also pointed out that my previous tests don't mean crap cause the xgd3 is done on a verb and the other was xgd2 of nhl 12 on the fugi film which only proves you can get decent writes with older format games that don't write to the outer layer. I finally did Battlefield 3 (xgd3) to Fugi Film and exactly as you stated, it goes all to pieces at that outer layer, it stays within (barely) the guidelines for the other 3 categories but PI Max is over twice the guidelines so not live safe. The only good side is Battlefield 3 burned and verified with no errors and plays excellently just it failed the guidelines on PI Max so its not live recommended but I've got a couple buddies who come to me for backing up their games and since their consoles are banned I've asked them if they minded if I used up the rest of my cheap media on their backups which they didn't have a problem with and before I would truncate but at least now I can give them full backups with no data missing and when the cheaper media runs out I'm sticking with verbs period because honestly there's not too much difference in price unless your buying in bulk. Just thought I'd post my results as I don't backup data on disc based media so I had no other use for these left over fugi film dual layers and thought I'd give em a go and maybe there were others in a similar situation who would be interested in the results, good or bad. I was actually expecting a bigger fail as I also have memorex and tried one or two when I first flashed burner max firmware and one failed to even burn and the 2nd that did get through the burning process, failed imgburns verify, gave horrendous kprobe results that were off the charts, and even tho it booted on the x360 it would fail to install from disc to hd at 50% which leads me to believe if I played via the disc I'd most likely get read errors at some point in the game. The Fugi Film surprisingly passed every test I've thrown at it except it had that very bad PI Max but again at least I can use them for offline based consoles (which is where I performed my boot tests on a jtag console with LT Plus 3.0). Anywho the moral of the story is if ya wanna play on XBL and be as safe as possible, don't be a cheap ass penny pincher and spend the extra 10 cents or whatever per disc and get verbs cause verbs > * period.

Ack, no edit feature? Forgot to include the Kprobe chart for Battlefield 3 with the Fugi Film (Ritek) media so here it is. When my buddies come to me for backing up their xgd3 titles and if I for some reason get a better PI Max result (unlikely) I'll update with the included graph but no reason to bump this thread up again unless its within the guidelines for a safe xbl burn which is rather unlikely. Verbs or GTFO =p
