My box is running 5.2B right now and it has been working fine for the last 5 months. Now today though when im running games, they are freezing 1-3 min after I start. I have tried both a burned gears of war and the original pressed halo 2 and they are both freezing. I dont think it is the dvd laser or over heating since it is 1-3 min after starting play. After the in game freeze if i power down and start up again, it freezes at the beginning of the xbox logo screen. I have to let it sit for a good 5 min before it will turn on again. Please advise! Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hmm.... cpu fried, i dont know about that. I would think (now , i dont know much about cpu's) that it wouldn't work at all if it was 'fried'.

What error lights are you getting?

Could it be a gpu issue that many of us have seen?

well i am getting normal lights on the controller and the box. When the screen is frozen i am still able to eject the tray and put a new disc in, but the screen will stay frozen. Also the controller is non-responsive. Does that help to point to the error?

Sounds like the early stages of GPU errors. I had a box do this to me and it started the exact same way before I knew it, I had the dreaded 3 red lights of death and hidden code 0102. I did the heatgun trick and to my amazement, it worked! If you have not seen this famous video it is here: hot air fix
I hope it is ok to post a link

wow thanks gamerjoe if i get to that point i definatly give that a try, btw where did you get access to a hot air gun like that one in the video, it looked pretty exrememe...

on the other hand my box hasnt gotten that far yet but i am seeing like random picture movement during the small timeframe in which the game runs. Like the you have logged on to xbox live thing at the bottom kind of flashes of to the side as well for a few seconds. So i now believe that this is a GPU problem. Is there anything i can do now without going as far as heating up my entire mainboard?
