I friend of mine is interested in moding his box, however he asked me a question that I found interesting and did not know the answer. He is interested in a way to protect a backed up game from his children being able to access it on the HDD. Is there a way to password protect or lock a game from being played off the HDD by other people?

Tell your friend that Playboy Mansion is a stupid game anyway:p

If I were you I'd pull the game out of the dash's menu... then when I want to play it, use XBMC to browse to the .xbe file...

You can even rename the folder the game is in to something like "System Info" or "Soft Core p*rn Game" or whatever... :D

That way your wife won't see the game in the games menu...

Oh wait, sorry. Your friends kids won't see the game in the games menu:rolleyes:

He was actually more worried about doom 3, San Andreas and what not. However, I think I can come up with something for him to work. I thought I would drop a quick question to see if there was any app out there to protect the game and allow it to stay on the games list, or if it was built in to any dash?

I did get a good laugh from your post, and had to show my buddy.....

Or you can just leave the game where it is and rename the default.xbe to somethingelse.xbe and it will not show up in the menu. Then you can just browse to the game directory and launch it manually with a file explorer. I did this awhile back for someone who had the hacked volleyball game and small kids, works great.

Why not use the parental controls on your Xbox???

They work if the chip's on or not.

Martin
because the xbox parental controls have a master password, and depending on how smart/old the people he wants to lock out of the games are, they can probably find the master pass.
