Game start pop up option to download update

How can I remove this pop up and direct start the game?

My switch with core 10.0.4.

would this ^ be the case if I was running XCI's from SD? could I just update using NSP?

Yes, keep you XCIs on SD card and just download and install the latest game update, in NSP format, that you need.
