normaly when copying a game to the hdd i remove the sys update folder, recently a few games even when the sys update folder has been removed refuse to start, still coming up with the an update is required to play this game message. as im on the latest jtag dash (kinnect) i assume the updates are game updates and not dash ( 2 games i know for sure are crysis 2 and dirt3) so i am safe to just allow the update to go ahead
as a side question are there anygames that require the new dash version out yet?

Any updates on a disc is a dash update, how would it be a game update? My guess would be its for the avatars, if your 100% certain your version of freeboot is 12625 then you should be ok to update.

deffo im on 12625 i applied it myself to get the avatars working!
and confirmed by looking in system properties. If its a dash update and im on the correct dash why does it ask for it? if i remove the sys update folder from the hd the message changes to an update is required but cannot be found

I'm not sure what it is then but game updates dont come on the disc, if it was on the disc it would be part of the game. If you cant sort it out try patching the games with xbox360 game hacker, not an ideal solution but it may help until someone else can help you fix the problem.

Have you patched your freeboot with the latest dash launch? If not, try that and report back.

well mixed results, i have 2 jtags in use at the moment (as the kids cant go on live with regular machines) and they are system linked I followed the instructions on the first one, placed the installer folder in the root of the hd then ran dash launch default.xex (v2.21) everything ran smoothly it identified it as a falcon applied patches and then rebooted. All games now start fine
I then moved on to my "main" jtag its a jasper that was tagged from new not by me (I bought it before i got into any of this) I had applies the update to make it the kinnect dash and then fixed the avatars with a sys update from a usb stick, its worked a dream since then.
so same method, it was identified as a jasper and patches applied, it then rebooted to nothing. I tried booting into xell, again nothing, green lights and fans but no screen message and no sync of controlers. I have the cpu key will reinstalling xell cure this?
I can guarantee when i open this up its been done with wires and resistors and not a nice plug in executor kit :(
sorry to be a pain

but i will have to solder in the nand kit first or are the symptoms terminal?

When you mean both running the Kinect dash you mean both were running dash 12625? Cause there was also dash 12611 which did support Kinect.

The symptoms are not terminal and surely this can be easily fixed with a re-flash, either using a backup of your freeboot image or your original NAND dump. If you can get xell up then it's a simple matter of placing the flash file onto the root of a USB stick and naming it 'updflash.bin'. If xell isn't booting then you will need to solder the nand-x kit to re-flash the console physically instead.

was hoping i didnt need any of the original files, there at my "other house" with all my electronics gear. Ill either sit on it till i can retrieve my nandx and pc or pass it to a modder in the uk to fix. my other slight problem is my rented property has no broadband (i send these messages from a netbook at work) have you tried not having internet?? its like having your hands cut off!!

I immagine ill be back with pics of the mod in the box trying to figure out what to do
cheers all
