Games will not play of the disk

I have an xecuter2 on my xbox and my problem just started this week. From the dashboard I can't play old or new games only the games on my HDD will play. At the top right corner when I load a disk I see the xbox is seeing the game but will not play. So after a bit the sceen goes back to the dashboard. No problems playing the game on the HDD. I don't know much about programming or setting what should I do or look for. Thanks to anyone how can help.

I had this problem before, I think the data is corrupted. If you can, use FTP and back up all your games then reformat the HDD.

Another possibility is a bad DVD drive. I had an old Philips just stop recognizing discs on me one day. I don't think it's data corruption because he says that NONE of the games are working.

That is right, I have also this issue here. Modded about a year ago, all of a sudden certain games would no longer load from DVD. I thought my DVD had gone bad, got a new drive in there last week. Upgraded to 5031 and still the same thing: sees game, loads for about 5-8 secs and get's back to the slayers menu. I have also problems booting of a CD at this moment, looks like the interface on the mobo could have issues? Of course I have reseated everything inside and made sure d0 was properly connected, even had it tested by a co-worker with some nifty equipment. If I need to redo the hard disk that is fine, I could care less, but somehow it looks like it is related to the DVD interface.... Oh I did read the manuals first on how to upgrade to 5031 and what the new functions do so I did not disable my DVD boot.... just in case ;-)

I have 2 Samsung DVD Drives that load up the XBOX logo, and then go back to the dashboard. They read the contents of the disc to copy the games to the HDD, but won't load the games. Wierd.
