Ok so I unlocked the HDD and erased all the files, and connected it to my 3rd IDE port as slave to my other HDD. Also set the jumper as slave. But when I boot up it says failed to load OS. Any help is appreciated. And if your wondering why I'm using my xbox 10 gigger let me just say no money and only 40 gigs.

Either my couch or my chair.
first, check the jumper settings on the other drive. if that doesnt help, boot off a boot disk of some sort and partition and format the 10 gig, then try rebooting.

It may work better if you set the 10 gig to CS (Cable Select) and in your BIOS set it to Auto detect that should work If not While computer is rebooting press PAUSE key just before it picks up IDE Devices Then attach hard disc and press Break or Print screen that should worky

10Gb drive? My Xbox HDD is sitting here wrapped in an antistatic bag as a paperweight ... not much use for drives that small anymore.

Yep - took the new HDD out of its packaging, installed it, then slipped the old hdd into the static bag the new one came from.

Maybe we can get all these 10Gb drives, and put them together into a giant IDE raid array! Imagine all the video you could store on that. Wow ...

or maybe not. (but image file downloaded from certain newsgroups - that could be a use :p )

Failed to load OS? Eh? For one thing, your system is probably setup to boot off of the xbox hard drive, you will wanna change that (check your BIOS). Second off, it says failed to load OS? All I've ever seen is "NON SYSTEM DISK" errors.

I had the same problem couldn't find OS. Didn't have time to mess with it though, maybe this weekend.

there are a bunch of different messages, but i have noticed that the non system disk error has been kinda phased out. havent seen it on a new system in about a year.
