Ok, so I bought this Xenon Jtagged xbox off a guy in town, he has it chipped with the Nand-X, I bought it in around June 5th and it worked fine, no problems what so ever, but now when I turned it on after a few months of not playing it. I get a E79 error, with secondary 1033, everything seems to be soldered fine.
The only files he also gave me was the FreeBoot, and the n1.bin which is the original nand. as stupid as I'm going to sound, I don't know where to begin.

Any help with steps would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Most probably something within the JTAG bit it self has come loose or maybe a faulty resistor/diode.

Did he use the quick soldering boards or direct wires?

It would help us if you could post a high resolution picture of the inside board and particularly close ups where the soldering is done.

Yeah. Pictures will help much.

The main two points to focus on are J2D2 and J1F1. These the ones you need to get a close up picture of the soldering, also if you got a multimeter you need for connection between the two points from below the board.

it doesnt even look like some of them points are soldered.
Yeah. Seems like the NAND QSBs aren't even soldered :p. But since the NAND can be read fine, it means that they are infact soldered

I've never really soldered, I'll have to practice, but it did run fine before, this just happened after 2 months of not playing it/turning it on. wasn't even plugged in. some points do kind of look poorly soldered but then again, I'm not one to tell. I'll keep trying to get better unblurry pictures. what are some things I could try in the mean time?

The most usual reason of E79 is bad soldering of the Jtag connections. Maybe the Jtag connections were fine when they were originally made, but it may have happened that one or two of them are not working now because of the poor initial soldering.

So my option is to Desolder it and resolder? I'll have to look for a solder sucker

What do you need the solder sucker for? All you have to do is to resolder the Jtag QSBs, that's all.
