getting error "Unknown Flash! Halting" but flash protection IS off

I have spent about 10 hours+ trying to get the X3 to boot, for some reason every time I try to flash the chip (using cd or http) I get this error

Flash protection IS OFF on the X3 chip and on the external chip.

I am booting from the backup bios, is there anything in particular I need to do when booting from backup?

try unpluging the swich thing then restarting your xbox, worked for me.

btw, It's a 1.6a xbox
