Re: Getting " Your Hardrive Does Not Support Locking&am

it means just what it says. your HARD DRIVE does not support locking, it's not an issue with the chip, bios, or xbox. There's no use for disabling the mod anyway unless you're using the stock hard drive on xbox live.

simply put, some HDDs just won't lock, and now that u can't go on XBL with an upgraded HDD, there is No reason 2 Lock a new HDD, if ur wanting 2 use XBL u need 2 use your Stock Drive for it(your Best and safest Bet), shoulda researched the Lock Function there friend, ohwell it's usless now, this way if ur XBOX dies and u can't save the EEPROM, you atleast won't lose the HDD 2

Re: Getting " Your Hardrive Does Not Support Locking&am

Ok, thx guys!

The thing is that i have always installed 200GB Seagate on all my xbox´s, and locked them. But this is my first time on a 1.6B xbox. So i think that its 1.6B related.

Re: Getting " Your Hardrive Does Not Support Locking&am

Hi, I am a newbee to this lot & have the same problem with my Seagate 120GB Hard Drive :(
I downloaded the new ConfigMagic for 1.6 xbox's but got the same error about the drive doesn't support locking.....gutted!

I was hoping to go live @ some point but from what I have read so far, you need the Drive Locked, the Mod Chip Disabled/turned Off to be able to boot into the original xbox dash which will enable you to go live.

Looks like I will have to put my standard drive back in if I want to go live....what a pain!

Does anyone know which Hard Drives support locking, Maxtor seems to rear its head quite a lot in the forums so I guess this is the one to go for, If I could have this confirmed I might sell the Seagate & get a Maxtor.

Regards,

Trace Damage

Got a RROD 360 a few days ago showing error 0003.
Could not fix it no matter what I did.
Then noticed damage from the previous owner probably from removal of the xclamps.
Could this be causing the 0003 error?

Click for bigger pic, sorry about the quality taken with my cell.

Re: Trace Damage

There are actually 3 spots that have damage but I think its way too damn small for me to do anything. They are about the size of dot made by a pencil.

Re: Trace Damage

I actually recieved this 360 a few days ago, not sure when the RROD occured or the history of the console. Sorry for the confusing post.

I was thinking I could pickup some conductive paint tomorrow and repair the traces however I am afraid that one of the holes may be over two traces and I am not sure about crossing them together.

You could try isolating the area you want to repair with the conductive glue / paint using some good tape.

I prefer to just strip the traces and connect them with a very small wire (32-36 AWG). If you decide to connect them with a wire you may not want to do it right where the hole is, since those traces are very close together and are very small. It would be better if you follow the traces back to a solder pad or something and make the jumps from there.

Re: Trace Damage

I think i'll try the conductive paint tomorrow and see what happens. If not I'll try my hand at connecting them via wire from the solder pad. (Which would be a first for me)

Crap just saw a glimmer under the gpu. Maybe I shouldn't even bother trying to fix this....

Re: Trace Damage

No luck with the conductive paint. More inspection of the board shows signs of being jtag'd.

If its been messed up with a bad NAND flash then there may be nothing you can do. But the only way to make sure the error is being caused by someone attempting to JTAG / flash the NAND is to eliminate the other possible causes.

You can dump the NAND and see if you can repair it and flash it back if that's causing the problem.

EDIT: Also, make sure you take a look at the page I linked to. You may need to replace MOSFETs and regulators. You can also make a post on their forums as that website has a lot of people you work with problems like these.

Re: Trace Damage

I did take a look at the website however I do no have proper equipment to test unfortunately.
Not sure if a bad nand flash would cause an issue like this, tried looking at all the possible solder points for the hack and I don't see any problems. (That would cause power issues)
