Hi,

I backed up a laptop using norton ghost. I have the backup disks (CD's). Is there a way that i can take the 215GB hard drive from my xbox, which has already been formatted for the XB, put into a regular desktop PC and then put the ghost backup onto that disk. I guess my question is............. is the Windows operating system likely to recognise the disk? I have 40GB to put on there, take some info off the backup and then place back in my xbox????? How might i achieve this please? If anyone knows, i'd be greatful for some help.............

it should work, but will the drive fit in the laptop? also is the conneciton the same? i think they are different. but if they are the same, just unlock the hard drive and format it in the computer should owrk

If you put the drive in a pc, you will probably lose all the data from it because the file system is different, you will be able to format it in the pc (as stated, make sure you unlock it) and use it, if you want to put it back in the xbox, you will have to re-format it again to xbox file format and re-copy all your appz and games.

Ghost reads the raw partition data if it doesn't recognise the file system (can't see the xbox being one of them :) ) So even if Ghost can ghost the partitions it wouldn't be dynamically increasing them like it would for a FAT/NTFS drive.. ie, you can ghost your 10gb to a 10gb but not your 10gb to a 200 and have the extra 190gb just 'appear'.
