Well, I just finished watching the show. Lame. They didn't even show anything about the system itself. Just a lot of stars promoting themselves.

While I have absolutely no intention of purchasing the XBox 360, I wanted to see screen shots and game footage. There was practically none of that. I only wanted to watch to see what next generation games looked like. The few shots I did see I was not overly impressed with. Looked about the same as Halo 2...

I'm can't wait to see what Sony and Nintendo are going to offer. Because, as I've already said, I am not impressed. Plus there is the whole, "Always connected" thing. To me, that means Big Brother will be watching what software stuff is running. I'm sure that if ANYTHING changes, they ban you from online use, which looks like the core of the XBox 360. In my mind, "Always Connected" equals "Always Watching." I would not be surprised at all if Microsoft made you register your system the first time it was turned on, like any version of Windows. With that, they would record your HDD serial and EEprom and all the jazz, meaning if anything was ever swapped out, banning would occur. I guess we'll wait and see what the modding world comes up with.

I caught the tail-end of the program and was disappointed. I may get one, but I must agree with linuxnoob. I don't like the whole "Every game is Xbox" aware thing. I'm sure there will be a way to turn it off though. Or just don't give it net access if you plan on modding it...

Well if you have no intention of buying one then why post? Are you mad because you might have to actually buy your games from now on? I have a lot of respect for them because they make great systems and I wont have the attitude like Im not buying one because it cant be modded...The first Xbox was a great (free) ride for a lot of people...As far as the Always Connected thing goes unless they are giving away free broadband with each Xbox you wont have to worry about "Big Brother" all the time....

If I misunderstood your post Im sorry...I just get sick of all the F^%$ Microsoft crap

I'm looking forward to seeing more of the Xbox 360, but god damn, I can't get those 30 minutes back....MTV is garbage. How about next time, they actually have decent videos where you can make stuff out insted of the crap tonight. Also, don't have stupid ****s talk about "like, oh my god, it's going to be like,so great!" Actually talk about the damn system! Did I mention I hate MTV?

I just wish we could have seen more of The Killers. [Who the hell is "The Killers" anyway?!] MTV is all about Rap/Hip-Hop now, so I think we could have seen something better if G4 had taken charge of the 360 Showing....but then again....the arguement would be "I dont have G4!".

no, not this time, they want you to swap that HDD, lol... they said it's swappable! As for dvd drive I don't think they'll care to check, who would need to, the oem one looks good.

I saw that video t xbox-scene, there's a downloadable one on ourcolony, the one at xbox-scene can't seem to be downloaded. Anyways very informative, unlike the MTV show which was crap. Why did J. Allard give out his gamertag, everyone is gonna spam him with friend requests now, lol. To tell the truth, by the ourcolony video, it looks like they want you to take it apart... Oh well, one thing for sure, it WILL be moddable, and I WILL stick with team-x when they get Xbox 360 mods out. Looks like it's got a built in media center extender (good because I got a media center PC). I had to buy the kit for xbox, cool that 360 will have one built in, now I'll have 2 media center extenders.

BTW as for the not being impressed with the GFx, look at the origional xbox launch titles, they're laughable compared to what's available on xbox now!

You are correct: you misunderstand me. No, I am not mad because I have to buy my games from now on. I'm serious, I do not steal games. I think that is dirty and wrong. I do not pirate software. I know some of you reading this post won't believe me, but simply because I have a modchip does not mean I participate in those activities. My modchip only allows me to get the full capability out of my machine.

I was attempting to speak from the viewpoint of a the stereotype visitor on these forums. Besides, am I not allowed to share my opinion about a company? I try to make intelligent posts and explain the reasons behind my opinions.

You are probably right: I may go on my anti-Microsoft rants more often than I should. However, for every one of my throughly explained anti-Microsoft posts, I see a lot more posts like, "Oooh, sony sukzors." If somebody hates Sony, that's fine. There are a LOT of people on here who for whatever reasons they have (I don't often get to see the reasons behind, but I'm sure they are legit) hate Sony. So, I figure it's okay if at least there is one person who hates Microsoft with a passion. ;)

NOTE: I am not talking about everyone! There are those on here that do hate Sony, and have explained why with intelligent arguments. That is fine. I am speaking of the illiterate folks who do back up why. Yet again, one could argue that they don't have to, but it does make a far more interesting and compelling argument if actual facts are interchanged.

By the way, the only reason I don't like internet-incorporated game consoles is that fact that I am a tad old-fashioned. I LOVE the old consoles, such as NES, SNES, and Genesis. I also am a big fan of system link. I don't know: I just do not like the idea of having to pay money per month for the priveledge of simply being able to USE the console online. Yes, there is whole, "Silver" Xbox Live thing, but it just doesn't sit well with me... :) I don't know. I guess I have a hard time explaining my opinion... it's... complex.

Most excellent points. We'll see in a probably about a year and a half. My guess (I could be wrong) is that it will delayed a bit, if not a lot. I mean, some of those looked like good titles, but there really were not very many. I would think that a company would want more variety in the release titles, but hey, as I said, I could be mistaken.

Also (and this can be said for any company) with that much hype generated around the launch, if anything happens, it's a big set back. Plus, it seems like the most anticipated games (Halo 2, WoW, Warcraft III) get delayed a LOT. Take Warcraft III for example: it came out almost 2 and a half YEARS after the first release date was mentioned. Now, I'm not suggesting that this is going to happen to the next generation consoles (that would be rediculous), but I'm guessing their will be some delay in the release of each one (perhaps with the exception of Nintendo, because they seem to be the most together company out of all of them.)

EDIT: Course it could just be Blizzard: they're really bad at that. LoL. :)

To me, how moddable it will be depends a lot on how tied into Xbox Live the system is. It seems to me like XBL Silver will be an excuse for them to get rid of system link, which will suck. I like playing games over XBC without MS checking to see if my system is modded.

After viewing many well thought, and interesting opinions on the xbox360, I have an opinion and a question to all of you... I did watch the MTV special on xbox360, and got thinking...hmmm why would they waste this time to mostly promote Elijah woods, instead of the main topic "XBOX360"? however, Microsoft did something, id never even think of seeing... which is promote the xbox360 in most intellegent way, which is through a high rating television channel, via MTV. Ratings equals views, which equals money, which equals a good way to sell their system. Also, west coast customs stated "all cars they pimp, will get an xbox360" A highly clever idea to sign with MTV and promote this xbox, because "pimp my ride" is a high rated show. Its all about advertising people!!! Microsoft wants their Xbox360 to be the most rated, selling console and dominate thier competitors (Sony and Nintendo). And what a better way to do it then to Advertise on MTV... A teenager, young adult network! The target Audiance for Xbox is teenager and young adult too. Now to the system itself... I personally dont like the look of the system, nor the controller, however I like the idea they controller is wireless. No more cords... Woo Hoo! I hate the color of the controller too... GREY???? talk about Nintendo style. Why would they get rid of the black and white buttons... thats just stupid! And what is that little ball thing in the middle that lights up?? is that a switch or WTF? Now the console... it does not even look like a gaming console, more like a normal DVD player that looks fancy with those ridicualous customizable face plates... Yeah, they look cool, but im sure people would rather paint the face plate them selves, plus the system. As for the internal guts "Under the hood" of this bad boy. I must say, they went all out on the motherboard, and processing capabillities. I also like the idea of Liquid-cooled/heat sync" I was not expecting that either. Now as for this wireless connectivity to a broadband internet connection... my self, not a wireless freak, however how is this system, or is this system gonna beable to play sytem link... So my question is to all of you... because im a system link fan, and I love it so much... I hate split screen...
Will this system be "system link compadable" via wireless?
I would love to hear everyones thoughts and opinions
Sorry for this long post... I just wanted to state my opinion

Xbox cool, MTV lame. WHy'd they have to pick now, when we actually want to see the content to air a video??? ALl day they had, inferno could have been assisted with a video in the middle, but no. What do you think the thing ont eh bottom of the upright box is (the oval/rectangle outline) and the wide port ont he back? Also, why on xbox.com does it say they're making a new controller with a 9 foor cord, what will it go to?

If you want to check out specs, see http://www.kotaku.com. They have very detailed hardware specs and comparison to Xbox 1 hardware.

So some speculation here . . . since Xbox 360 must use some version of the Windows kernel (conventional wisdom is that Xbox1 used an adapted W2K kernel) . . . and Xbox 360 uses IBM's POWER chips . . . will Microsoft have a version of Windows that works on the same hardware as Macs?

Yeah right and then pollute the world with xbox 360 consoles like they did with widows. And we are all happy with that?

I foresee in the near future you will get an xbox with every carton of milk you buy and than microsoft will say: "We sold the most game consoles so we are the best".

That's forcing people to get an xbox. Now you will say that you don't have to accept this free gift but we are all human, if it's free you will take it.

By the way I really like the xbox, not the way microsoft wants to rule the world.

I love to get my hands on a 360.

Just downloaded the MTV Xbox360 show off Grabit(alt.binaries.cd.image.xbox).

It was total pants. The info could have been done in a 5 min infomercial, but still I dont think its purpose was to educate everyone about the new Xbox. I think it was just to give people a taste and thats all it did.

As regards to the machine itself MS have not done anything radically different with it, it is still quite large and the controllers are not that different than the existing ones.

I think they should have put more effort into making it smaller as the large size of the first Xbox put a lot of Japanese people off, I just read that the new Nintendo machine will be the size of a DVD case and only an inch thick.

Digital high five! I'm glad to see that somebody that shares my opinion! Just like you, I personally have nothing against the Xbox, but feel no need to buy it because I know, indirectly, it will feed their desktop operating system monopoly. That monopoly has crippled new software developement, driven up prices, and just in general been awful for the IT industry. If anybody has a bright idea, they HAVE to go through Microsoft. Sure, they could go through Macintosh or open-source solutions, but then who would buy it? It's an evil self-feeding system that the IT world NEEDS to get around. They are so bad for the marketplace.

But, the Xbox is nice. I would love to be able to support them by buying an Xbox 360, but there is no way I will while Windows dominates the market.
