Hi Guys,

I have read DARKFiB3R's RGH guide a couple of times, and feel confident enough to try it this weekend. I have also watched the video on the forum about soldering and read a few other guides. But have a couple of questions:

1, As for running games from a HDD, should this be a portable drive that connects via the usb sockets at the front of the xbox, or does it need to be installed in a different way?

2. What programs do you all have installed to your RGH xbox's that are a must or recommended. Also how do you install them is it via a usb drive? Do you need any specific software to run iso files?

Sorry if the answers to any of the above are obvious but i am a noob :)

Thanks

John

Well John, most of these have been discussed here.
I suggest you use CoolShrimp's JTAG tool for you JTAG.
As far as the software go you can install FSD and Nxe2God and or Iso2God

btw internal HDD and external hdd both are supported but usually the general idea on the forum is that USB is bit slower compared to internal hdd but easy for keeping your dash up to date.
If you ask me, I would say to go with the USB.
Install software using a pen drive or place them directly in your internal hdd using xPlorer or something similar.

Just do some reading on these formats and see what works for you. You can store your games on either drive (USB, HDD1) it really doen't matter they both run the game at the same speed. I like to rip the ISO and put that on my USB drive, it saves me space. Just take your time and learn the pro & cons of these formats (Rips vs GOD and NXE2GOD)

Thanks for all your help guys, one more quick question, when you say using an internal HDD is this when you swap the original drive with a Laptop one?

internal HDD can be a retail m$ one or a modified larger capacity one......whichever you want
I personally installed XEXmenu 1.1 then installed FSD 2.0 - after that I took my 0800 rips of my games, and used exiso to rip out the game info, and removed the $Systemupdate folders, and put them on an external USB drive - I can now play backups of my originals straight from HDD on a custom dash :D

Best advise would be "Don't run before you can walk", this is a one shot deal, watching soldering videos alone is not going to cut it in a million years for a job like this, I hope you have some hours of REAL practice under your belt on an old circuit.

Once complete you can then delve into the option side of things, remember if your not sure practice some more!!!

Good Luck!!!
