Thats not a very pretty sight!!! I've probably smelled that smell when blowing up a car amplifier or frying some speakers!!! Loud music pays (the dealer when you have to buy more from him!!) Looks like the soldering wasn't exactly in tune!!!

yea i dont think the guide even said it to cver that up back in the days when it first came out because i dont remember it saying anythign about it till i reread the currect guide just yesterday. Now it makes me feel like crackin open my xbox and takin the chip of the pin header all over again. though it wouldnt be too hard since nothing is screwed in, lid aint even on, and the drive bays are loose but im jsut to damn lazy....

Gutting, I've also smelt that smell, I blew up my first PC that I built, I had the psu on 110 and not 240 :) £2000 worth BANG! Luckily only the psu blew up and the rest of the component including my beasty p2 cpu rofl was fine. Trouble was I had to wait all weekend untill monday to buy a new PSU, that was one long weekend worrying if the pc was dead or not :)

Having some troubles with Hitachi

So, I am usually a benq man and liteon man, but today I am trying to spoof a hitachi 0079FL as a sammy. I am trying to get my hitachi in mode b by running the unlock cd but no luck. I burnt it on 2x with the cue file provided b jf. Still no luck. Is their any other options or am I doing something wrong. I have never touched this type of hitachi befrore

Fixed. Decided to connect instead of portio winAPI. That did the trick.

Re: Having some troubles with Hitachi

eject the drive close it eject again close it then finally leave it open then put in ur 79 disk then open up jf then go to hitachi tab then send mode b then the drive will close automatically then it will look for the hitachi drive if it doesnt recognize it open the drive again with jf not connectivity kit then send mode b agian leave the disk still in there then send mode b then it should recognize the drive and assign it a letter then play the 79 unlock disk then
etc...
