Got a clean 'but hackable' switch, what's the best way to update?

Hi wonderful peeps,

I just got hold of a Switch that hasn't been hacked yet.

Do I update it to 8.0.1 directly from Nintendo servers, then install SX OS?
or
Do I install SX OS, then use Choixdujour to update offline?

Thank you
T.

It really depends on if you care about burning fuses or not. At this point all CFW supports 8.0.1. If it is on a low enough FW like 4.x or lower it may be worth it for deja-vu in the future, but even then it's not a huge deal. If you did decide to keep a lower FW if you have one I would create emunand and update that.

Thanks for the explanation. It's on 7.0. Is there any benefit to keep this FW version, other than saving on the fuses?

There is a possibility that deja-vu will be available at some point in the future, but who knows when. I don't think it will be possible at all if you update past 7.x. Not sure IMO if it's worth it, but you can keep 7.x if you use emunand.
