let config live load and use ftp to backup your c: and e: drives to your PC.
Get slayers and burn to a cd.
Take out your old drive and put the new one in.
Run the slayers disk, format and install.
Read a bit, try a bit, and you'll be there.

First lets start off with the new HD. Load up your Xbox with the Chip on with your Original HD and get into Config Live. Open your favorite FTP client and copy the C: D: and E: folders on your Original HD to a spare folder on your PC. When that is complete, plug in your new 80gb Hd and get back into config live. From there you want to format the new HD giving F all and none to G. Log into the FTP from your PC and transfer the C: D: and E: folders onto your new HD. This will give you a clone of your original HD, letting you keep your saved games and soundtracks. Do not worry that your Xbox Live account has not been transfered, you wont be able to use this 80gb hard drive on Live anyways. Congrads, now its just time to install a dash and a few apps.

To get EvoX running as a dashboard, unzip the RAR and FTP the contents "Trainers, Skin, Evox.ini, and evoxdash.xbe" all to the root of your C:\ drive on your 80gb HD. It should load right up after a cold reboot, if not, in config live check your dashboard boot priority and if X3 config live is enabled on start. ( you want NO on X3 Config live on start) That will allow you to navigate through your xbox a little. (Unleash is probably the best dash out there once you get the hang of things)

Once you have the dash loaded up, go back into your FTP from your Pc and get into your xbox. If a folder in the F: drive does not have a folder named "apps" then make one. While you are there, make another one titled "games". If you are looking to back up your legally obtained games so you wont have to risk scratching the discs anymore, download a program like DVD2XBOX. Unzip the RAR file, and drop the DVD2XBOX folder into your apps folder. Thats it.

Go back into evox dash, go to launch menu, apps, DVD2XBOX, never worry about lugging those games around with you or risking damage to your investments.

Hope this helps. PM if you are STILL having trouble.

I'm sorry to hear that you are still having diffuculties. Thats alright, with a few basic programs like FlashFXP, mIRC, and WinRAR, you should be in bussiness very soon. I sent you a PM that is practically like a 12 page novel with instructions on how to do everything from copy your original HD, to setting up your apps. If you havent used xboxlive, you can still use your original HD put stuff on it, but if you are going on Xbox Live, i would really advise getting off your butt and switching HDs to be safe. It may seem like too much of a hassle, but you are almost 100% safe on Live. I have heard people say Xbox Live does an F: and G: drive check to see if you are using a partitioned storage drive. Like i said, feel free to PM me anytime. Good luck!
