Got lite-on drive properties but im having problems with slimkey

yea so i got a VIA6421 and a sata to usb converter and i am hotswapping like in this "tutorial" and im getting drive properties when refreshing like he does but when im trying to click slimkey it says "no drive detected" and the drive properties disapears

anyone know what is causing this or how to fix it ? help would be really appreciated! i am going to test some more and update if i find something.

UPDATE 1:

ok so instead of refreshing i just clicked slimkey right away and it asked me if i wanted to send an unlock and i clicked no as in the JF tut and it seemed like working then it said that it failed

Your problem can be solved by getting a 360USBpro.

TBH without a usbpro your just gonna have problems with slim lite-ons

But the gear you have isn't working buddy. I used to battle with the VIA card but buying the x360USBPRO made things 100x easier. Nobody said this modding lark was cheap........but it doesn't cost a fortune.

Well im just tryibg to get some support, i have gear that is connecting the drive and gives me drive properties but after sending slimkey it disapears

Buddy you have to have UsbPro if u wanna flash slim.

slim drives are picky with sata.a usbpro is best for slims.

if you not getting it to work then you may need to get a usbpro,or take it to somebody who can do it for you.

Then wait untill u can afford to buy the x360usb pro. Because the equipment you have is sub standard. Trust me I have just purchased x360usb pro in the last 3 weeks, and it makes such a diffrence.

For the last 3 or 4 years i have been battling with a via card and to be fair they do a ok job. But nothing is as easy as using the x360usb pro mate.

Via cards are very eratic and eliminating them gates rid of a whole host of problems.

Something more affordable that should work is an IDE2SATA adapter for your via card.

I read somewhere a while back (xboxhacker?) that they worked. better than a usb swap trick.

Just cuz its conecting doesnt always mean that its going to work, like I said earlyer Via cards are very erratic and slims drives are picky. You may get it to work this time or not, but as times goes on you are going to be plauged with problems and gremlins.

It would appear that you have exhausted your options with trying to read/flash a slim drive with a VIA6421 & USB to SATA connections. These issues have been well documented since the arrival of the first Slim Drives (do a search, you'll find lots of info) and a lot of members who have answered you have been around long enough to have read the majority of them.

PC Chip-sets are very particular (where Slim drives are concerned) and there are only a few documented ones that work

Out of curiosity.....which Slim Drive Version do you have?

well it either works or it doesn't and obviously for you it doesn't
maybe you should go ask those people on youtube since they have the 'identical' gear as you
it's a common problem for slims
the price of a usbpro is less than a game FFS
