I couldn't agree with you more, playing Doom for the first time when I was 4 on my brothers IBM with W3.1 on it was magical. But I just don't know about a movie made from a game...may god be with you Rock.

And Nicolas Cage can be the lead character becuase he dies in every WWII movie he's in, WindTalkers and Saving Private Ryan [all good movies] I don't even now if the lead character in Wolfenstien dies lol
I read somewhere [I think www.360updates.com] Microsoft made an announcement that over 5 Million was put into the project. The movie is scheduled 2006-2007.

On the other hand, Casa Blanca was the most expensive movie ever (with inflation accounted for) and It was pretty good.

I hear Peter Jackson director of LOTR & upcoming King Kong is on board. He made a good job of LOTR....better than anyone could of hoped for considering how good the books are so i am tipping this film to be good!!
