SE version is 1.5... do a google search on it.....

i thought a 1.5 was just the same as a 1.4 execpt that 1.5 has a missing ground on the lpc, correct?

Yeah it seems there are some 1.6's out there, but there must not be too many because every post i've read have all had 1.4-1.5. I wanted an older version so i wouldn't have to deal with rebuilding the LPC. Here's the specs on my box:

This is the second 1.6 i've done, both had the same DVD and HDD. The second one was manufactured in sept 2004 i think.

on the sticker on the bottum of the xbox with the barcode it says

it had to be made in february then because i bought it before september because i remember getting it as an early birthday present and i was still in school so it was before june

I was just looking at the serial number detection method over at xbox-linux.org and if i'm reading the charts right, it looks like 1.6 production started sometime in march 2004. If yours was manufactured in february then you probably have a 1.4/1.5, but like they say it's not 100% accurate until you open the box up.

Look at the factory code, i.e. the last two digits of the serial number.
If the factory code is "05" (China), you have at least a 1.1 Xbox.

i need some help spoofing a benq
I have a samsung xbox drive that died on me, i've read a little about spoofing and have never spoofed a drive before. Could I in theory buy a Benq off say a website called ebay and spoof it so my xbox thinks it's the samsung? How does this work, I'm pretty well versed in jungle flasher but alas don't know much about spoofing.

You will need to get the key off your old drive. If its dead then your stuffed. No way around it.

ok youll need to load the original samsung ofw as source and then load benq LT as target on the firmware tab. hit the button in the middle spoof source to target and itll spoof the keys into the benq firmware. then just proceed to flash it to the benq.
