Hi, I'm new to this place, if this is in the wrong place, then sorry.

What I was wandering is, when adding a new hard drive, is is possible to format the new hard drive using the Xbox?

I just installed the X3 chip to my 1.4 xbox, and i'm using X3_3029 bios.

The new hard drive i want to use is a 120gb Maxtor hard drive previously used in my PC. I was formating the drive in my PC when half way though something happened and i had to turn my PC without finishing the format - my hard drive could quite possibly be screwed.

Now the hard drive is detected in my PC bios, but it doesnt show up in disk management - im using windows XP.

Any other ways to format it other than using disk management? or is it possible to format using the xbox?

Cheers :) and again - sorry if this is in the wrong place

Yes you can format a new harddrive through a the X3 bios. Just put the new hd in the xbox and boot to the X3 bios and go to Disk tools and go to New Hard Drive Upgrade and setup everything the way you need it with the LBA48 thing and then click the prepare and format new drive
