Okay first of all install your chip with original hdd and install bios. Back-up the contents of your HDD to your PC. It might be a good idea to back-up your eeprom at this point too. Fit your new hdd. Use SlaYer's auto installer to format and partition your HDD, then copy all your files back across to your new HDD.

That's how I would do it anyway. I'm sure plenty of people out there will have plenty of other ways too.

Hey,
With the X3 you can go into disc tools in Config Live and format right from the bios.
As Adam mentioned, make sure you do a backup first.

Never tried the CL option. Does it sort all your partitions out too? That would save the hassle of using SlaYer's

Yes, it sorts out the partitions. You can choose a fat F or a G partition. Of course you would always want to choose a fat F drive.
But unlike Slayer it does not add any files to the hard drive. That could be considered one of the benefits of using Slayer, After it's done formatting and loading your ready to go.
But then again if your replacing files from backup anyway.....
