hard drive not detected before flashing

hello - im trying to flash my bios but my drive will not eject. i get the "drive 161: not detected error".

the drive is the original xbox v1.0. if that helps out.

any suggestions?

I'm confused. How can you eject a harddrive. Do you mean your DVD-rom? Check power cables. Check IDE cable and if both check out, you may have a bad drive.

good question. thats what the error is when i boot up the xbox. i try to select to flash via cd/dvd drive, but the tray does not eject.

connection below power adapter that connects to the mobo was a lil loose. but now when i put in the cd/dvd, it says waing for drive, then eventually spits the tray back out.

What media are you using?

was a maxell cd-r. just burned a maxell dvd-r and am about to go try it out. will update you in a few.

You might have more success with a CD-RW.
