Hard Drive Problem

So I bought my premod from modordie, it worked great for a couple days then gave out on me, maybe due to faulty installation or a faulty chip or something, I'm not sure. Well, I sent it back, with games and bios and everything installed, and I just received my fixed Xbox back.
However, my games, bios and most apps are missing (not a big deal, they were just backups anyways), but the problem here is that the hard drive which is 160gb, has about only 95gb free. When looking in my Hardrive Info, it says I have a 150gb hard drive capacity.
I was wondering if anyone has had this problem of space being used up when there's nothing there. I was thinking that maybe modordie deleted the games becaue they're not supposed to be involved in that aspect of modding, but that wouldn't explain why the space is still used up. I also thought mabye somehow the files are just hidden. However, I can't find them anywhere when searching through the ftp. Thank you in advance for any help anyone could give me.

BTW, I have a 1.6 xbox, X3, and Samsung SP1604N Hard Drive.

That happened to me when I helped my friend upgrade from a xecuter 2 to a x3. When I turned the xbox on it booted up fine but I couldnt view any of the games that were supposed to be on there. The 160gb hard drive was only showing 20gb free. I had to format the hd and reinstall evox, apps and the games. It worked, just took time.

Oh, that's too bad, so you think I'll most likely have to format the hard drive? I searched around and am still pretty confused about formatting. Am I only supposed to format the F Drive or the whole thing? Because if I do the whole thing, wouldn't it erase the bios and stuff?

no the bios is on the mod chip. I formatted the whole hard drive. Just make sure you have a cd to reinstall the dash and apps again. Don't format if you don't have the cd. There might be another way to resolve this but this is the way that I fixed it.

I just had this problem last night... I have a 250gb drive in mine and realized that it was only seeing like 120 gb on the f drive... I just went into X3CL and formated only the g drive and the rest of the availble space was formated to that drive....You could give that a try before completely erasing everything and starting over....

Benq drive will not open after firmware update.

Basically after I did the 1.61 firmware update my drive will no longer open. Before this I never had a problem ejecting the drive. When the LT update came out I applied this update hoping it would correct the issue but the drive still does not open. I did try applying the original firmware that jungleflasher made but it did not help.

After taking apart the drive I realized the magnet will not release from the top part of the drive. Keeping the top lid off allow the tray to eject and close with no issues.

I tried doing searches but I find is issue reading disk but I don't have that problem. Any help would be great!

I think you answered your own question. Also, after getting your drive into vendor mode and flashing, be sure to send the outro command no matter what drive you have

Re: Benq drive will not open after firmware update.

Thanks for the reply skitch.

I really don't see how I answered the question. I still have a drive that not ejecting. The magnet that the disk sits on top of will not release (or stop magnetizing, however you say it) to allow the tray to come out. Keeping the lid off is not a option when i put the xbox back together.

I did do the outro command every time I tried swapping out firmwares from original to ixtreme and back numerous times. I don't have a problem with flashing as the whole process goes well.

Re: Benq drive will not open after firmware update.

Its not a problem with the firmware, it is a problem with the mechanical parts in your drive.

Really hoping it wasn't going to be mechanical since it was fine before the firmware update.

If I purchase a replacement drive, should I stick with Benq or get one of the others?

Thanks again for the help.
