Hard time flashing chip, possibble previous modchip install?

Im doing this xbox for this guy, its a v1.0 with an xecuter 2.6. I used the wire install method. I get the blue light off the chip and the blue FlashBios 3.0.3 screen on Bank 2, I put the BIOS DVD in and it wont read. I figure "Stupid Thompson Drives"!!!! but no, i use mine that i know actually works, and same thing, just wont read it....The xbox has been opened b4, when i asked him about it he said he got it from a buddy of his(there is no way of contacting this buddy) so im wondering if infact a modchip was put in previously and than taken out and was sold or given to this guy...

So what is really going on here?

Iv'e done about a dozen xbox's and never had any problems flashing the bios(besides the 1st xbox that i have ever did), this is my first v1.0 with an x2.6 though.

Well, i guess its reading now, but it just freezes at the FLASHING EXUTER SCREEN with only a little bit of a yellow bar(maybe a little more than 1/10th of the way...im surely guessing its the BIOS disc that being created....I read alot of tuts on making them, but there all a little different than what i have to work with i/e Nero settings, ones used in tut is v6.0 mines a bit newer, but thats just another example, ill keep looking and keep trying, but if anyone has sugggestions and good tuts, let me know, thanks.
