Wait I'm confused you talk about the MS logo, but you also talk about the X3CL, is this done with the chip off or on.
Can you explain how this works? The ATA password on the HDD will still not be known by the Xbox - if it were this simple, people wouldn't be offering cash to solve this never ending issue!!!mmicrosysm said:I am not a big fan of what I am going to tell you so here it goes and do this at your own risk. Must have a Modded Xbox to do this with an aftermarket drive.
1) Open your working Xbox and move the drives to the side but still hooked up.
2) Take your HD Molex power connector out of the back of the Hard Drive and add a power Y splitter to it.
3) Hook one end of the power Y to the stock drive and the other end to your LOCKED drive.
4) Now be ready to do a hot swap of the IDE cable from the stock drive to your LOCKED drive. May want to remove the HD out of the Drive Tray to make it easier.
5) Power on your Xbox and boot it up until the intro flubber animation is finishing, now initiate the hot swap. You should have the drives IDE connection swapped before the little white "Micro$oft" logo appears on screen.
6) If all goes well you should be able to UNLOCK your HD in X3CL if not redo these steps

If I haven't killed myself with my other experiments yet I should be good with this one.Martin C said:Let me know how you get on- try not to blow yourself up or anything

You could give these guys a call http://www.badflash.com/halomaster7777 said:Really, yeah I could definatly get the old eeprom off the board, do you know of any service that offers recovery. Prety much I was stupid and didn't back it up.
Opps wrong chip, what was I thinking!!!!! Its a SOP8Martin C said:EEPROMs - yes. We're not talking TSOP here so lets not confuse the issue!

The Atmel is the Serial EEPROM with the Password on it. It is SO-8/SMD 8 Pin Package. Just remove the EEPROM off your old Xbox and solder in place of the EEPROM on your new Xbox. Be careful not to lift a pad when removing both EEPROM’shalomaster7777 said:Yeah I know the felling, so is the Atmel chip the eeprom or something else?, plus did you get that one swapping HDDs way to work.
Unsure maybe Martin knows if they are compatible. I do know they are a Serial EEPROM 256k in size and are a SO-8 package. As for the actual data stored on them you got me. When I get some time I am going to remove the chip off my V1.0 test board and run it through my E/EPROM programmer. However, I have to come up with an adapter for it though as the Serial E/EPROM adapter for the unit does not support SMD. If all goes well and you still have your situation I’ll just have you mail the chip to me and I will get the Key off for you.halomaster7777 said:Plus someone told me that 1.0 eeprom are different then other eeproms from 1.1-1.5. Are you sure there compatable
