Has my 360 drive flashed wrong or have I burned wrong?

Well, I attempted to flash my drive yesterday after doing a good bit of reading on it. I got the drive into mode B using slax with the onboard SATA controller on my nforce 4 mobo (drive is a hitachi 0047DJ). I booted into windows (was using vista 64 at that point) and tried to flash the drive using the latest ixtreme I got off Xbins. Vista said it wasn't compatible with the program with it being 64 bit, so I left the xbox in mode b, unplugged the SATA connector to my PC and installed Vista 32 bit on another partition.

I tried to flash again, and it reports the drive as iXtreme. I thought that was a bit wierd so I tried to restore, with no joy. Tried the iXtreme once again with no luck. So it could well be flashed, but I doubt it.

The only game I had was gears of war (only got the xbox a few days ago) the disk was, however, knackered (eBay for you...). I downloaded a copy from usenet (PAL) and burned it onto a dual layer verbatim disk at 2x speed and put it into the console, only to get the 'to play this disk, put it in an Xbox 360 console' is many languages, which is what I get putting it into a DVD player. The system still plays original xbox 1 games but I haven't got any working 360 titles to test.

So could it be a bad burn (ie the game wasn't pre patched) or has the flashing not worked?

Thanks in advance for any possible help :)

does not seem to be flashed. It should make a copy of your original FW somewhere on your PC. Make sure you do not lose this DVD key guard it with your life, or else...................."houston we have a problem" (speaking from exp, if u are having probs dont continue with the flashing process, you'll brick the drive!)

try using windows XP instead of vista, may have some joy.

It was all extracted and I ran the command line. The only wierd thing about it is that when I tried to flash the drive again it said it was already xtreme?
