Has the 1.6b M8 bios issue been fixed?? Freezing during game

Hi,

Ive been trying to piece together other posts, bits of news and the likes trying to find out if there is the bios fix to deal with the Hynix ram issues?

Is the Evox M8plus_16 any different from the standard M8 bios or am i just getting confused.

If theres no fix yet, does anyone know when there will be one?

Im using a new 1.6b xbox with a 2.6lite chip and am frustrated with the constant gaming interuptions when playing with the chip enabled.

Are you running M8plus16 from Bank 2? If not, then this should cure the problem.

Im sure I flashed both banks. Should I make sure that its set to bank 1 or 2??

Also, is there a difference with the M8 bios and the M8plus bios or am i confusing issues??

As I said, you should be using M8plus16 and booting it from Bank 2.

M8plus16 was coded to work better with the 1.6b.

After looking on xbins I think im using the old M8 bios.

Do I need to reflash back to cromwell or do I just flash the M8plus over the top??

Cromwell is just a BIOS that allows you to flash another. You don't need to flash to Cromwell if you already have Cromwell on a bank.

Well in order to get the bios to work I flashed both banks. Should I flas cromwell onto bank 1 b4 reflashing?? I thought the 1.6b had compatibility issues with cromwell? Cant I just use my programmer to flash both banks with the M8plus straight over the top? :?

You can - I'd flash bank 1 512k with FlashBIOS 3.0.3 though, in case you want to reflash from the Xbox in future. Flash Bank 2 with Evox M8plus 16 and boot from there once complete.

What exactly are all of the differences between the M8plus16 and the M8bios?
I have a 1.6 xbox and an X2.6 chip with the pcb rebuild.
What should I use?

The two BIOSes to compare are M8_16 and M8plus16. These are the two 1.6 compatible BIOSes for the 1.6.

The 'plus' was released to give compatibility with Hynix RAM (1.6b).

I'd use M8plus16 for your X2 chip regardless of what 1.6 you had.
