The Video works fine with chip disabled... When I boot from the chip... problems! No video output just the flubber animation noise. Any Ideas?

P.S. the pin headder is an a+ job super clean. and so are the other contacts. They look and feel bomb proof! ( I have done like 15 of these and this is a first.) Box is a 1.2-1.3. 1957 on the chip.

Huge problem with BenQ drive

Hello!

Well, I have a bit of a problem here. After heating my Xbox 360 with the towel trick (didn't have heat gun and needed to fix E74 with penny trick) my BenQ got bricked (I suppose so). The green light is flashing quickly, i can't open the tray, neither in dashboard nor by clicking the open button on console. Jungleflasher won't recognize the drive (I have Intel chipset that should be supported, it is in supported list). I tried with DosFlash, but it won't recognize it either. The drive is flashed, but I don't have DVD key (bought it flashed)
So, is there something I can do?
Thanks in advance

Re: Huge problem with BenQ drive

well if you dont know if its in vendor then lets put it into vendor,

connect power to drive, and connect drive to pc
open the drive with the little thing on the front that spins,
open half way, shut power off, then back on, and that should be in vendor.
keep the tray half way open by whatever means you can, it need to be open
then see if j/f can find it

Thanks man, I've tried that and nothing... Drive's motherboard is intact, like new... I've spinned the little thing and opened the tray half way, J/F still won't recognize it

Re: Huge problem with BenQ drive

Sure... I was trying for like a week now, surfed all over the internet for tips and manuals etc., and nothing. I tried powercycling it both in J/F and DosFlash (several times, ofc). Didn't help

Re: Huge problem with BenQ drive

ok, well when you did the towel trick you may have burned something out that powers the drive? have you got a spare dive you could try in the 360, just to see if its powering them

Re: Huge problem with BenQ drive

I'll try to measure the voltage on connector... I have another console, but I don't like the possibility of burning another drive, hehe

Tnx for the tips Dave! :D

Re: Huge problem with BenQ drive

So, I've tried to connect the drive to another (tested) power source, and the tray is not coming out. So, it's bricked :)
Guys, don't overheat your consoles using baking trick (aka towel trick) method, some nasty s*it can happen :)
Buy a cheap 2000W heat gun and some aluminum foil, if you have to heat it.

Re: Huge problem with BenQ drive

Hmmm.. I've managed to get original DVD key, bought a "new" VAD6038 on eBay (I waited something like 4 weeks), flashed it with LT 1.1, it worked for a short period of time, and guess what?! - THAT ONE IS BRICKED TOO! HA-HA
I give up :)

Re: Huge problem with BenQ drive

It could be possible that you've fried something whilst doing the towel trick and in turn, this has allowed too much power to reach the dvd drive. Hence f$%king it up. My advice would be to simply get rid :-(

Re: Huge problem with BenQ drive

or you could try get jf to reckognise the drive
this happened to me i flashed the drive with lt worked for abit turned off the machine went to use agin drive was dead,
hooked it up to the pc jf could not see it
to get the drive to be seen open jf then send intro device with the power off on the drive when you see the dots apear on screen ............ the power on the drive it should come up witha status 0x72 this can now be reflashed with fw
