Well I'm here stuck at home and nuthin to do so what did i try? Making my own crosswire... You may ask wtf dont u go out and buy one well>? I got no ride simple as that:D now it sounds stupid =D and a waste of time but I think it will be better than trying to use an auto installer =D.For those who wanna do this all u need is 2 or 3 spare ethernet cables and 2 ethernet wall ports. on the ports are 2 different types of connections it will say "a" and "b" have wires being connected by the color code of "a" abd the other side being "b" weeeee wasn't that fun. Well yea I was desperate. :) Three cheers for stupidity

you have made a crossover cable out of old rubbish, ingenious? what exactly are you saying though, i've got a hideous vision of the final result!!! have you done it properly with RJ45 connectors and a proper crimping tool or is this a complete bodge? if it's a bodge I wonder what you data transmission rates and retries will be like.

another cheap and easy way is to just cut thewire in half and switch the wires that are on pin 1 with pin 3 and 2 with pin 6

example:
pin1:white/orange -> pin 3: white/green
pin 2:eek:range -> pin 6 :green

I have to say one thing... The quality is as good as the design.

Just order one online for 5 bucks. www.cablestogo.com

Or go to homedepot and buy a pack of RJ45's and a length of Cat5 and make a couple...

Looking at the bottom of the connector (gold pins facing up, Clip facing towards floor) wire like the diagrams below.

Here is the difference in cables, it is apparent if you look at the color layout.

Just crimp them bad boys on, and your good to go. Invest in a 5 dollar crimper, 10 bucks in cable, and 5 bucks in connectors...

It will last a lot longer.

I personally wouldn't like a cable with joins in the middle, more potential for problems to occur.
Doesn't cat 5 have to have a maximum of like 2cm of wire untwusted before you lose integrity or something?

*edit* untwusted for those of you who don't know is the kiwi way of saying untwisted... :rolleyes:
